The proprietor was late to open and was also not present for my return. I had to wait outside the location for twenty five minutes to return the truck.

Truck smelled like cigarettes. Took 20 minutes to pick up because too many customers and only one person. The attendant gave me one contract, then switched it for another one and a different truck. I returned the truck before the published closing time, but no one was there. I dropped the keys off and left. I was then charged for an after hour return, even though I didn't return after hours. I was also charged for refueling, even though I clearly refilled the tank to the level it was at when I picked it up. I was also charged $14 for a “sales item” with no explanation. I called and emailed, including a photo of the fuel gauge and gas receipt, and so far no response or credit to my card. Unacceptable.

The guy there working is horrible. BAD customer service. Did not ask me if I wanted insurance, he just charge me. Gas gauge was 3/8 and he mark 1/2. Overall I'm ok with truck and location. Just the worker. Very unpleasant and unfriendly.

Serious issue: the Uhaul site claims it offers a 24/7 pickup or drop off but this isn't true. Rentals must be done when someone is on site. The website needs to be corrected.

The electronic checkin process was problematic. Orher applications using the same browser had no problem identifying my location. U-Haul's could not, making the after hours return process truly aggravating. I will look for another rental service next time if i expwct after hours return.

This location is in a terrible area, and I was worried that my car would get broken into while I was out using the U-Haul. The building itself is a dirty little trailer, and there was one man giving another man a haircut in the parking lot. My original reservation was for the Berkeley location and was changed by U-Haul without my authorization, which added time, expense, and stress to my move. Overall a very negative experience.

I was not informed of the after hours drop off fee, nor was I given instructions on what to do after hours, or what time they closed & to be back before then to avoid a late charge. Check out was fast and easy but with zero communication.

Been renting there for last 4 years, a great location and the people there are very nice. I recommend all my renters to rent from this location when they are moving out or even when they are moving in.

Somebody from UHaul called us and requested the UHaul back hours before our deadline. We arrived a day late to work because of our UHaul breakdown, thus we didn't get to unpack as fast and couldn't have the UHaul in *a day early* like we had expected. So a man called from UHaul and was in such a hurry to get the van back so he offered to pick it up. I was at work and not able to make it home until late in the day and since he was so adamant about picking it up, I didn't get to fill up with gas on the way to the UHaul dropoff... So now we are charged with a huge gas fee because it HAD to get picked up so soon...

Store open at 9am. I pick up the truck on 10/13/20 the guy didn't show until 9:10 am. Then I drop off on 10/14/20. He didn't show up at 9am. I waited for 10 minutes so I drop off the key in the box

We had a lot of problems with the app upon drop off. It kept freezing and dropping out when trying to upload photos. We then tried to contact customer service to help us check out and waited on hold for 15 minutes at the location. Once a representative answered, they immediately hung up on us.

Drop off was an issue because my device did not give UHaul website location data. (I tried adjusting settings for over ten minutes, and eventually just stopped the key off in the box without verifying my location. My location share seems to work fine with other apps, so not certain why it would not work with UHaul.com.

I refilled the gas to the exact amount as I picked up the van. However, when I got the invoice, it indicated that I didn't fill enough and charged me additional gallon of gas. That's not right.

The truck we rented had 100,000 miles on it, it had NO suspension so our cargo was severely impacted, the steering was so loose that it was hair-raising being next to a big rig and not be able to keep the truck in its own lane, the transmission is completely shot which caused it to stay in low gear with the engine speed greater than 4200 RPM and the brakes are marginal!! Other than that, it was wonderful (not).

Place was closed when I came to pick up and when came to drop off. Pick up was delayed a half hour as a result. Drop off required me going back and forth and calling 1-800 number to figure out what to do with the truck (the website didn't seem to offer any info and the drop box said not to leave key with out going to the website to set something up).

I initially requested a pick up time for 9:00AM and this location did not have an available vehicle until 3:00PM. I was not notified of this. I only learned this when I called the location to confirm my pick up time (because I did not have any flexibility on the day I needed the vehicle). There should be a system for the location to confirm that (1) they have the right vehicle available and (2) they have it at the time requested. Other than that, I was happy with the service of this location.

So I tried to reschedule a truck at a different location after reading the reviews on this place. I was concerned that the guy that runs this place would try to add extra charges. Of course he did..I had to return the truck after hours. Here told me to park it on the street and put the keys in the box. Then he called me repeatedly at night as I was finishing up. He said he didn't want to leave the truck on the street so to call him when I dropped it off so he could put it behind the gates. Then he charged me $20 after hours service fee that I never agreed to or thought was possible. I've been doing business with uhaul for 6 years I've rented hundreds if not thousands over the years and I've never had a problem. I knew this guy was a snake before I got there and tried to switch locations but he was the only area that had my size truck. You should not be doing business with this guy, period.

While the pick up of my vehicle got off to a bit of a bumpy start, both the customer service line and the business owner of the business where I was originally supposed to pick up my vehicle at 5501 Shattuck Ave were incredibly helpful and got me into my van relatively quickly and the process was smooth from that point forward. I would strongly recommend them. The location at 640 MacArthur is helpful for drop off even if the yard is closed as there is ample street parking.

Closest one to my house, only issue is that it looks like Uhaul removed all the euro vans and swapped them out with smaller (height) american vans. I reserve the euro vans on purpose, so please put back the euro vans

I was unable to book for the time I wanted and when I got there for different reserved time, I had to wait 30+ minutes which later I was told would cut into my two hours rental time. We had to rush to bring back the truck in 1.5 hours without completing our job. When we returned the we got hustled again because we didn't fill up the tank even though it was within the marked contract. Long story short, they ended up charging additional $14 for the three gallons of gas. We won't be renting from this location or maybe not from Uhaul at all in the future.

Had confirmation for pick up in Richmond as usual, received call the night before stating No truck available and needed to go Oakland which is about 50 miles extra. I had my crew there at 10:00 AM and they had to wait until Noon until they had a Return. I was not happy about whole experience specially about clerk attitude.

Took 45 min to be told my reserved vehicle wasn't available - even though we "registered" on mobile and were told we could just drive away. Then attendant wanted to show me what was wrong with the truck we'd reserved, rather than just telling me about other options - I had to ask 3 times whether there were even other options available before I got an answer.

We arrived 20 minutes before opening because our pick up location was changed without anyone notifying us at all and we worried. We did the optional pre-check-in the night before moving and found out that the site was changed no one called us to tell us. No email or anything. Apparently it had happened to others as well. But this site was suppose to notify us and to be honest they couldn't support the extra capacity. Upon arrival, covid safety was hardly happening on their end, no actual hand santizing options despite people in line having to touch the same pens, clipboard, etc., and the line took literally 1 hour. This sucks when you specifically choose a 4 star location that opens at 8 and then are moved to a location that is 2 stars and opens at 930. But we tried to not ding them for this alone and we were just patient. When we were given our truck then is when it was all a problem. It was totally dirty with food crumbs, dust and dirt, sticky cups holders, food wrappers in the driver cabin. The truck bed has garbage in it and grease on the corners. The steering wheel and adjustable mirrors had visible handprints on them. No sanitizing or cleaning was taking place at all. This is something they are suppose to do before covid even started and especially now during covid. This was the dirtiest uhual I ever rented. Our truck had lots of significant scratches and gashes, that hadn't been recorded with the little "x" stickers so it too us 20 minutes to upload the information! That was not ideal after the hour long line. This was the longest check out process ever. Plus the guy was servicing 3 people at a time, which left us all confused during the process at who he was helping when. We all looked at each other confused and disappointed multiple times. The worse part of it all is that they did not have the equipment we payed for. Don't tell people you have dollies and support equipment and then not have them at your site! He went on the phone calling someone saying where are the dollies I dont see them for 5 minutes loudly. Then when we asked where are the dollies we rented, and he looked at us and pointed to around the building, and we walked over to were he pointed and there of course werent any dollies. We came back and said "Uhm, there's no dollies, "and then he feigned surprise badly and said was "oh my goodness what? Someone must have taken them! Oh no!" It was disappointing. They made our moving day start off super late because we had to do their work of cleaning and recording, had to wait in an extra long line because they short staffed at a busy location with multiple people who had been last minute rerouted to their site, (already had to start an hour later because they opened later), and on top of it they made it harder by not telling us in advance that we won't be provided the assistance tools we counted on. I definitely do not suggest this location. They could be doing much better and there is an energy here that feels like "subpar is good enough".

I reversed a truck, blankets, dolly, furniture dolly. When arrived at the place, there was only truck, nothing else. A bit annoyed. But the staff was able to find me a cart. It still did lots of job. Well moving season. Better reserved earlier time than 11 AM

Make sure that their Is staff actually on site at all times during business hours. Be sure that if there is a fuel level check that it actually stays the same from customer to customer. They were not on site when I did arrive, yes i was late but it was within business hours and not a lunch time. The fuel level was nitpicked to hell last time i returned a rental here this time upon renting i found the level at the exact point i had tried to return the previous equipment and told I would be charged a refueling fee. Overall NOT HAPPY.

I was a little disappointed with the fact that the fuel tank was only 7/8 full, at time of pick-up. I went to a gas station to make sure it was 7/8 full when I returned the van after hours. However I was charged an additional $14.25, the contracted amount to make sure the fuel tank was 100%. In hindsight I should have taken a picture before and after of odometer and fuel level before and after pick-up.
