The U-Haul neighborhood pick up was an awful experience. I rented a van with appliance dolly with pads at the Derwood on Fredrick Rd location. At check in, it was not helpful at all. The gas station gentleman kept saying to go to the check in and that he was unable to help. And even when I did finally find the check in option- the page would not load. I tried telling him the check in is not working for me- he sort of said “figure it out”. After an hour of frustration and calling the u-haul contact line, I end up driving to another u-haul on Piccard dr where they were SUPER helpful, honestly a life saver. After their help, I went back to the Derwood location, but there was no application dolly or pads and the gas tank was not filled halfway. And also as another list of issues, checking out was a nightmare. Never ever go through another U-haul neighborhood again.

I rented a truck and reserved pads. U-Haul changed the pickup location where there were no pads available so we had to take time to drive to a separate location to get the pads we requested with our reservation.

Less problem with the location than not being able to check in or check out online due to Uhaul website certificate errors. Also, never did see the photo of the equipment as stated in Uhaul emails, as the link to do so only allowed uploading specific documents like a drivers license. When calling the listed Uhaul number to get help, a recorded message said the wait would be 30 to 45 minutes.

The attendant was very helpful. The self-pick up did NOT work for me because the software didn't recognize my Maryland license (for some bizarre, unknown reason). I wouldn't have been able to begin the rental if not for the helpful attendant at the Marathon station.

Rented a hand truck. It was NOT in the truck. Requested to not be charged when I returned the truck. The clerk agreed and then STILL CHARGED ME.

Self check out didn't go as planned and the staff at the gas station was very unfriendly and had no idea how to better help me. He was yelling at me and told me to follow his commands. It took me 25min to get the keys before I got on my way late. The worst is returning the keys. Somehow the pick up process didn't get through the system and I was not able to return the truck myself. Another staff at this time was even worse than the first guy who told me not to leave the gas station before he hears back from the manager. All of this happened after an exceptionally long day. I tried to call uhaul customer care which put me in the queue for 57mins. I had to convince the guy to follow up with uhaul customer service and take care of it myself before I was released from hostage. The customer service was that day was very professional and told me something went wrong at point of pick up bur reassured me to get it addressed the following business day by the manager who she emailed. I called back the following day and spoke with a customer service agent who was blaming me why I got the keys from the staff without properly processing through the system that I had no clue about. He was very rude and angry and he finally hung up on me. Terrible experience ever! Will never use uhaul anymore.
