My rental time period was Friday, July 23rd, from 3:30-7:30pm. I was told that the location was closed at 6pm so in order to return my van after that time I would have to go through the online return process. When I returned the van, I followed the appropriate steps to complete the process on my phone but the Uhaul website would not allow me to share my location to complete the return. I followed all steps to ensure my phone had location sharing enabled, specifically on safari, but continued to get a notification that location sharing was not possible from the website. I shut down and powered on my phone again for another attempt with no success. I then tried to log onto my account on a friends phone but got a notification saying my account had been locked. At this point I called customer service but was automatically placed on hold. I was on hold from 7:10 up until a few minutes before 7:30 (the van's return time). At this point I gave up on reaching customer service, locked the van doors, and returned the key to the drop box. The next day I was charged with a convenience fee of $20 and a cleaning fee of $25, essentially doubling the initial cost of the rental. I had no way to avoid the convenience return fee due to returning it after store hours and not being able to connect to the Uhaul website. I could not avoid the cleaning fee because there was no way for me to upload pictures of the van as part of the return process. I ended up paying over $100 for a 4 hour van rental using 11 miles of gasoline and no damage. I can't think of any other way I could have returned the van given the circumstances and feel like I was punished for something I had no control over. I repeatedly attempted to go through with the return process and locked the van and returned the keys properly. This was the reason for my unsatisfactory experience.WILLIAM P.

I've rented at least three 10x10 storage units here over the past several years. The location is ideal and the rates are the best in Tempe. There are also dumpsters. No restroom that I am aware of. The facility is rundown and the units are far from airtight. The units are not temperature controlled. The roofs have leaks and only one of my units had a working light. I've never had a security problem their, but I would not recommend going there after dark. Again, this is the cheapest place in Tempe! The staff are the best!!!!Bruce W. | Overall Experience
New location over all. Place is old & ran down. I went inside the day before, to see if I could take care of everything so I only had to pick the truck up in the morning. Someone was smoking marijuana in the office, the place smell so bad. The employee said no I can't help you, you have to use your phone. I told him I didn't trust my phone. I was supposed to drop off my truck to the location on Hayden and 202 but was called by the personnel there and told to drop off at the Curry Mini storage around the corner. I left it there as I was told and then I was charged a $20 after hours drop off charge.Paul C.

They kept me waiting for an hour while trying to process my credit card, then read all of my credit card information over the phone to a stranger, I think their grandson, then he charged me... isn't that illegal? I then called uhaul to complain and was told I would be contacted and have false charges that the lady on the phone admitted were false, reversed. Next stop Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. The location was fabulous. It is Uhaul that I can do without. I asked for a specific location and received at least 3 phone calls with different locations. I had to go much further to pick up the truck and asked for a discount on mileage as we would not be going far. Someone did finally call me back and gave me some free miles. I rented and paid for the truck for 5 days, then received a phone call the very next day asking when I was returning it. THEN, I received a phone call from the new territory dealer manager informing me the pricing was very incorrect! THEN, we were told to return to a closer location which was incorrect (according to Uhaul traffic office) Then when my husband dropped it off, he was held for ransom as they said we had a $120 late return fee (we were early!). The total bill was $150 including taxes. For your sanity, never use Uhaul!!! If it were not for the absolutely lovely lady at the Curry St location, we would have lost our minds.teresa L.

I reserved online opted for no insurance when i got there they put the insurance charge on the contract. The truck was not on full. Was noted as it was when i told them exact words were " nothing i can do about it." Pleasant lady just caught me at the time of need so i accepted the poor experience. Wont be a next time.Kaz H.

I have rented from U-Haul for many years and have never had a problem until now. 1. I spoke to Jim Sunday and Monday. Sunday he was abrupt on the phone. He was better in person. 30 minutes before I arrived, I called to let him know I needed a second day. When I got there he gave me the bill. Several minutes later he told me he forgot to add the second day, so I got the more expensive bill. I realize people make mistakes, but I also feel he should have honored the first bill because I was on the phone with him only half an hour earlier to add the second day. 2. When I inspected the truck for damages, I was so very surprised at how much damage there was and so few Xs on the truck. Long slash marks were on both sides of the truck, as well as dents, and again no Xs. 3. As I drove, the engine was so very noisy. Again having rented Uhaul over the years, I knew it was a very old engine and in dire need of replacement. 4. The window was filthy dirty. I used the windshield wiper fluid and the left wiper was half peeled off and flapping in the Wind. Before I drove off, I was given the inspection form to inspect for damages. Employees themselves should also inspect for wear and tear on the trucks and make the necessary repairs. 5. I then had to go back into the store and ask Jim how to release the brake because I could not find it anywhere. I've never before had a U-Haul location put the brake on. 6. None of this should happen at all given we are paying customers.valerie S.
Originally thought it was one of the official pick location down the road but it was a quick pickup for my uhaul reservation. I would recommend an official pick up facility if ordering additional moving supplies but since I just required the truck, it fulfilled my moving needs.Steve D.

The express/self check in was incredibly frustrating to use, seemingly because of software issues. The mobile site kept automatically reloading forcing me to start over. What could have be done by a person in 1 minute took 1 hour. I would be hard pressed to use the self check-in ever again.Joseph M.

When I checked in the Uhaul, the woman did not give me a cost breakdown or estimate. I was incorrectly charged for damage protection (SafeMove) and I did not elect that coverage. I have yet to hear back from customer service about the charge.Sydni T.

Not your typical Uhaul location. "Ma and Pop" location. Was not efficient. Once again it was not the location that I had requested, and it ruined my plans I had set up when I booked the rental. The couple running the office was very old and slow. My daughter was moving into a new apartment and UHaul wanted the EXACT address, regardless of the fact that we were staying in town with the truck, so we had to jump through hoops to get the address before they would let us get the truck. I specifically asked for a receiver to pull a trailer when I placed the reservation. It was not provided. And the light outlet on the truck was incompatible with the light connection on my trailer, so I didn't have any lights. I had to have someone follow me. I was not happy with my experience at all.JANE R.

The folks at the Curry rd Self Storage were very nice! The truck was very clean and in great condition. The AC worked great in the truck which was awesome since it was 106 when we moved. Would highly recommend this location for the quality of service and the quality of the truck!Erin L.
Stop eating breakfast and acknowledge customers when they come in. Have a person that is computer literate, efficient and competent to handle transaction. The next customer should know 2 things. 1) The elderly couple running this location are slow, but the sweetest. They are quite knowledgeable & service-oriented, just have extra time to pick up & drop off. 2) The online truck reservation system is limited.
