My truck was booked for 9 am, unfortunately we had to wait until almost 945 before we were even doing our inspection. The location is a family run orchard, they do not man the front office. You ring a bell and wait for them to come in from the fields. Not a good location if you have a timeline to stick to

Owner hours were terrible, my rental was for 12 noon but owner wasn't open until 3pm, significant waste of time. I had to spend an hour and a half on the phone going through self checkout. This was a bad experience. The truck was good no issues with the actual use of the vehicle. Uhaul did not inform me ahead of time about self check out or the hours of the local operator. I was not the only person that day who had the same problems getting the uhaul.

No one there during posted operating hours, other customers looking for assistance but no one around. Took 5 calls for them to answer phone. Had to drop equipment off in the middle of their front yard by myself...

The method for picking up the vehicle using the website was extremely cumbersome (having to re-enter driver information and payment information that I had entered at the time of the reservation), and we were quite glad there was someone there so we could get our keys the "old fashioned" way.

The employee gave us the keys to the truck, pointed out which one it was, and left. He did not come outside to inspect the truck with us or anything that would normally be standard. When we got in truck to leave, we noticed check engine light was on. Couldn't find employee for 15 mins (banged on doors, called phone numbers, honking on horn, etc) until he finally came back. When told about the light he said, "Oh, I'll make a note of that." and went to walk away AGAIN. I told him I'm not comfortable driving a truck long distance (over 100km) without knowing what the light is for. He seemed annoyed, said he'd talk to his partner and left. Came back 10 minutes later with keys to a new truck. Did not notice at the time that he didn't bother switching our names to the new truck, or took our names off the initial truck. Never sent us a new contract or anything. This resulted in more issues after we dropped the truck off in Milton, as my initial truck was missing from the system. I received a phone call the next day asking me why I hadn't returned my truck yet, when I had done it the night before. Led to much confusion and frustration. Overall I am VERY disappointed with the Newcastle location. Terrible customer service. He did not apologize for or even acknowledge any of the issues he caused us.

UHaul truck pickup was reserved for Oshawa (Ritalin/Taunton location) and nobody from UHaul called to confirm until I checked the day before and was informed that pickup would be from Newcastle (35 km away from preferred location) and provided no credit for extra gas required. Left with no other option within 24 hrs of schedule move, I made do with this arrangement and returned the truck with 1/2 full tank as I got it. Then found that I was charged $20 for gas at return. Not happy with the service this time.

Make sure the trailer is cleaned. It had mud and leaves in the box I also don’t know why I am charged a5$ plus tax “safe trip” fee

Charged for mileage when we were less than the permitted amount.... Charged $27 additional for gas after already putting $45.00 worth of gas in, leaving the truck fuller than when picked up. Received a call saying the truck hadn't be return when it was returned the same day just after 4:30 PM the same day. I would like the gas charged reversed.

I have used U Haul several times over the years, the first time was with my father when I was young (1980’s) All I will say about that was it was awful, the equipment was old and worn out. Almost hazardous. Going forward I rented a U Haul to help a friend move (2001), I was impressed with the excellent condition and quantity of the equipment. It was that good experience that made it U Haul the choice for this most recent move. I would use U Haul aging without a second thought, your staff was very helpful and knowledgeable over the phone. The truck was in great shape and I had no concerns about taking in on a long trip. It’s apparent to me that U Haul has made significant improvements to how you do business both with quality trucks and we’ll trained customers service. I would recommend U Haul to friends and family. I dropped the truck off and I was told they would check it in for me. A few days later I receive a phone call from U-Haul that it was missing and not checked in. Clearly I was scared and wondered what happened. This phone call to me should not have happened. It should have been dealt with through U-Haul much more professionally.

First of all the gentleman arranging my paperwork was kind and courteous, no issue with that. This location is a farm, the trailers were all on soft muddy ground and I had to manually pull it into the driveway to clear the trailers next to it. A paved area to park and hook up would be much beneficial to customer and the business. The storage on the buddy ground is probably why I had to fight for 20 minutes with the left side ratchet mechanism that was rusted badly. All in all I got a trailer I needed.
