The location and the staff at this location were amazing, nothing but great things to say about them. I do believe the cost per mile has on some levels made renting and using uhual for a move prohibitive and no longer my first option.James G.

Well, no one was there to check us in, even though their posted hours said someone should be there. So, I called U-Haul Traffic and told them we had arrived, but there was no one to check us in, and that I did not know how to do it on my phone. The young man I spoke with was most helpful, he checked me in over the phone, and then recommended I take pictures of the 6X12 trailer we rented, plus the surrounding are to make sure we were not billed anything additional and to prove we had dropped the trailer off as we were instructed to do in our contract. The trailer was great, just wish the dealer was there, yet hope there wasn't some kind of emergency that caused them to close early, but we'll never know that.connie T.

I was very disappointed that the truck we requested was not available at the location we requested. We had to drive 15 miles one way to pick it up and 15 miles to drop it off. So we had to pay for 30 addition miles when it was not our decision. That isn't fair to the customer to make them pay for the miles when it wasn't their fault. In addition, I had requested the truck 2 weeks before our move, so it was known we needed the truck for that specific day, far in advance.Levon L.

Open on time, make sure equipment is serviceable. The roll up door was very hard to open, was told it's just cold. When I got to destination the door wouldn't open and I had to struggle because the cable on the torsion bar was brokeGayle S.

Just a note: The radio aux input was broke. I was hoping to use it with my cell phone. The 1200 mile trip through many areas of no or few radio stations, the loss of this option was greatly missed.Steven D.

Fairly easy process however, the U-Haul app on my pixel phone wouldn't let me move past the photo portion for taking a picture of the mileage. I had to have my wife download the app on her iphone in order to turn the vehicle in.Robert E.

I thought everything was great. The only thing that I would change is letting people know the turn in process. I ended up dropping my keys in before I could get some pictures and such. Other than that the service was great, and the owners were really nice.DAKOTA C.

This Box Elder SD location went above and beyond after a stressful day. That is why I rated them a Excellent. But I would rate my experience with U-Haul Poor. U-Haul called on the morning of Friday, June 25th. I was in Dickinson ND and an U- Haul representative said I needed to drive from Dickinson ND to Box Elder SD which is four and 1/2 to 5 hour drive to pick up my truck. I asked if I could take a moment to think about and call her back and she said if you don't want it we have other people that will take it. I had my reservation since May 17th. My reservation meant nothing to U-Haul. It is stressful enough moving and this fiasco on top was overwhelming. I ended up needing another truck and went thru the new Penske location in Dickinson. I called the evening of Sunday, June 27th and it was delivered to the location by 7:00 the next morning. It was more money then U- Haul but I will use Penske or another moving company before I will use U-Haul again.KELLY K.
Our pick up location was changed and I was never notified. I was at Deadwood Ave Uhaul at 7 am and didn't pick the truck up at this location until 8:15 am because of the confusion and that created a mess with the packers I was meeting at my house. The truck cabin smelled of smoke and the cup holder was sticky. The truck mechanically ran great with no problems.HEATHER G.

Staff was super friendly. I arrived after hours expecting to drop off my trailer and unhook it by myself. The Australian gentleman that runs the store came out of the shop 15 mins after they closed, unhooked the trailer, and had my receipt printed within a matter of minutes. Issue was with the Winner SD office that indicated they had a trailer ready to go then I get a call shortly before pick up that I would have to drive8 hour round trip to get a trailer. When Inwent to the drop off office they were not set up to receive car trailers but gacefully accepted it do to the run around I already experienced.BRAD B.

Need a convenient pick up and drop off in Box Elder SD? This place is the best. It doesn't look like much but the Operators no-nonsense convivial attitude is all you need. Well, that and a trailer of course.aaron G.
When I took the appliance dolly I had rented back a couple of days after dropping off the truck and car dolly, the owner showed me the truck. The bearings went out on the rear axles, and there was very little oil in the rear transfer case. The truck had 20,000 miles and was poorly maintained. He got permission from U-Haul HQ to do repairs in his shop, because after a short test drive, he didn't feel safe taking it to the main Rapid City U-Haul terminal.John D.
Charo Automotive was part of a larger issue. I had booked this rental online and requested a different pickup location. No one from UHaul contacted me to let me know that the pickup location had changed, and I ended up taking a cab to the wrong part of town. Here is the problem with Charo. The owner doesn't understand U-Haul's online system at all. I had pre-paid and pre-checked in. All I needed to do was pickup the keys and go. My reservation was for 7:30AM and he didn't arrive at his business until after 9AM, and I wasn't on the road until close to 10AM. Instead the owner spent 30 minutes on the phone trying to figure out what to do. When I finally was able to leave, he swore at me, he told me he hated this UHaul business, oh and by the way, he had a loaded gun behind the counter. I have pictures of that for proof. He should not be representing your company. Lastly, the gas tank was empty, the inside of the cab was dirty with dog food on the floor and pet hair on the seats, and the windshield was so covered in bugs, that I had to stop and scrub it right away just to see.Spencer A.
