they put down a higher mileage than what it actually is so they charge for you for going over the 30 mile limit. I drove 30.8 and they charged me 5.10 for going a little over the 30 limit. also the truck was dirty, and if I didn't tell them it was dirty before I took off with it, I would have been charged a cleaning fee. I turned the truck in early and I asked for a discount. the person said no, but then said, well don't tell anybody, but I'll put an early return time so you can get a discount. Of course I did not get the discount, that fine, but not lie to me saying i'll get it and don't. will never do business with them again. sleezyIRIS K.

If you need to rent a truck in Northeastern CT, skip Putnam and go to Brooklyn. They were super accommodating when Putnam failed to have a truck ready for me (despite making a reservation over a week in advance) and the sales associate that I talked with was very friendly and helpful. Putnam didn't seem to care whether I got a truck or not.SHEZAN B.
Train your Saturday staff to check in returning vehicles when requested by a customer. It was bizarre to have that request declined when the employee seemed to be available, with no other customers around, but apparently she doesn't do that sort of thing. The 20 foot truck I rented had a big leak in the roof ,I had to put a tarp over my furniture inside the truck, the cargo light was broken in the back, had to use flash lights to load, and the wipers were shot, I reported the problems at the drop off locationWILLIAM C.

There were no moving pads/blankets available. The trailer, (none did), didn't have a stand to raise and lower it to the correct height. One must lift the thing off the ground to place it on the ball hitch. That could be a Liability issue if one injured their back lifting it.SCOTT W.

Noticing the sign in the 26 ft. trailer I rented, stating "Haul/Tow must be off", and seeing the light upon the dash saying it was on, I returned inside to ask about this. I was told, don't worry about it. The truck seemed as if it wouldn't shift properly. So as I was then exiting a second time, I sideswiped a rental car. If the "Tow/Haul" notice had not been on the dash, I wouldn't have been there. They didn't tell me to ignore the sign and the light up on the dash. The day was ruined.Lisa P.

They do not start you with a full tank of gas They want you to fill what is in tank I started with around 3/4 of a tank and put in the same it is hard to judge amount When i got the bill charged me 20 for extra gas it is just a way to over charge customer You should start with a full tank and drop off with a full tank 415 gallon is a money grabDAVID D.

The truck had food, dirty socks, an inch of dust in cab. The check engine light was on. I called to notify them at 4:45 but machine was on. I didn't leave a message because I needed the truck and wouldn't have had time to exchange for another. I then was charged with a cleaning fee. I called upset. Let me change the drop off location online. I had to call a 800 number and wait for 45 minutes only to be told that the nearest place I can drop off was 27 miles away even though I already talked to a U-Haul dealer 6 miles away who said he could take it but the people on the phone would not let me do that. Not really any improvements I can think of. They were very nice and accommodating, even when I needed to change my pick up time at the last minute. Very safe location as well. Everything worked out well, but I had requested a Dolley for $10 extra dollars, but did not receive one. It made my move quite a bit more difficult. I was told my account would be refunded but I haven't been refunded. I have rented from this location many times before without issue but yesterday I feel like I was taken advantage of. I needed a rental truck for a period of 6 hours for pick up and drop off at the same location. I even left my vehicle there. I was charged for the one way rental rate of 118.00 and not the 29.95 I thought I would be paying for. I was not made aware or told of this upcharge. Also I rented an appliance dolly, the sign on the dolly in the store said the rental rate was 10.00 and when I received my receipt I saw that I was charged 12.00. I was told to fill U-Haul to 3/4 full, which I did prior to dropping off. Level was slightly under 3/4, but I got charged for 3 gallons of gas (didn't need 3 gallons to go from slightly below 3/4 to full 3/4), where I had just put in 4 gallons and had the receipt!Ryan V.

We had rented a 15 foot truck from the plainfield location. When we showed up, they were closed and did not answer calls. Luckily, we were able to get a hold of someone at the Brooklyn location.
