Before this last service, I highly valued Uhaul and I'm never going to use you guys anymore. I've spread the word around about what happened. It started off by me calling and confirming details of my pick up 1 day prior to the date. The lady Michelle if I remember her name on the phone was extremely rude and had no empathy in terms of acknowledging things. She legit said â€œI don't care and I don't have empathyâ€. I asked her 3 times if she meant that and she said yes every time. I professionally provided her some advice in a very respectful way in terms of how customer service should be. Fast forward to pick up time, they advised me of the wrong pick up location on the phone. I had to take a $25 cab to get to the right location. Mind you, I had to drive 25mins to get to that wrong location that I was advised. I literally put more mileage on the truck to get from my place to the Uhaul location than the actual move which was 5 minutes between the 2 apartments. On the day of the return, I called in to ask if I could return the 26â€ truck to a location closer to me as it was a very long truck and hard to drive and also to save on mileage, I was told a strict no without even any sort of effort to acknowledge my concerns. This has been the most awful experience of my life with any company and I have dealt with really bad experiences over the years. If Uhaul as a whole cares for their customers, I'd really appreciate a call back to speak on this because this is humanely unacceptable!Landry R.

The man working did not check the gas level before we got the van - He said it was more full than it was. He had a hard time reading/listening and got me to fill in all the information on the computer for him. He added the warranty without even asking if I wanted it. There was also random cardboard and signs in the front of the van when we got it.JASMINE H.
I have rented this same cargo van twice in the last month . It is fairly new but some previous user must have had something spilled in the van which has a very sicking smell. Had to drive with the windows open or you may throw up.. Otherwise good service.Phil K.

I reserved a 16' trailer from Duncan and I checked several times before moving day to ensure the reservation was in place. However at the last we were told to pick up the truck from Chemainus mini storage which was 35 kms in the opposite direction from the move and when we got there your office had already directed our reserved truck be given to another group despite the fact I arrived 30 minutes ahead of our reserved time. Chemainus Mini Storage is a dreadful location and had no options to offer. The young man offered me the phone for the head office and I waited an hour for service only to be transferred from dept to dept. In the end we were directed back to Duncan for a smaller truck and trailer. Adam's Tarp & Tool seemed the only same people in the group. They set us up quickly. In the end we had to leave some things behind and pack everything else into the 14' truck as the extra length would void our ferry reservation. We returned the trailer to Adam's.CHRISTINE M.

Yhis was the location I was to originally pick-up and drop off. On arrival my trailer was given to another person who showed up after me. I was sent to Naniamo to get the trailer. On drop off I was told they had no room for the trailer and to take it to another location in Duncan. This location did not exsist. On return yhey accepyed the trailer when I told them that I would drop it where it was if they didn'y help. They got their store clients to assist in manually pushing the trailer to a position out of the way as the lot was too small and cluttered to turn the truck and trailer in. I wasted 4 hrs and $ 10 in fuel because of U-hauls mistakes and was not offered an appology must less any re-imbursment. I would not recommend u-haul or either of these locations based on this experience.CHARLES W.

I had to travel to the next city to pick up the truck. You need to let people know when booking that the truck maybe several miles out of your way. I wouldn't have booked with u-haul had I known it would take half of my day to get the truck.JOHN M.

Have equipment ready and serviced when being picked up. All truck and trailer tires were low, blankets were missing, truck low on oil, cab of truck very dirty and full of mud. The staff did not subtract missing blankets from the rental contract. Overall not a great experiance from this location so make sure you cross your T's and dot your I's before you leave.JANNIK P.

Although the people were very friendly and nice there is definately a chance for improvement. They went out of their way to get us the truck we wanted and even let us have the truck for an extra couple of days and added an additional 100kms just for registering with them. We had then called to see if we could pick up truck a even a day earlier and they let us at no additional charge. I do wish they had gone over the agreement with us and showed me the details of where to return it, as well as just the basics of the contract but they did not until I walked back into the building and asked if I had to have the truck back by a certain time. They did send us out with the truck below 1/4 of a tank of which they were not supposed to and even mentioned this to us. Our contract was marked with 1/4 of a tank fuel level, so when we returned the truck we had to pay for addidtional fuel as they insisted it be at the level of what we took it at. We originally thought nothing of it but they ended up charging us for and additional $80 for fuel when we returned it. We had also asked if they would do a walk around of the vehicle before we left and they said no need as all damage has been marked, but it might have been nice to show us around the vehicle and what does what even though we figured it out. The other issue we had was that at no time did they mention to us we would be classified as a commercial vehicle on the ferry so we did not budget for the additional charge of $150. These are things that I would think a customer service agent would discuss with you especially when they know your destination. Overall we were happy with the uhal and our move went smoothly although we spent more on fuel overall as the trucks are not very fule friendly even when you use the best mileage gage, and we probably should have gotten the truck 1 size up.MICHELLE D.

When I rented the U-Haul vehicle I was told that all of the equipment I had reserved online was in the vehicle (i.e Utility Dolly, Furniture Pads and Furniture Dolly) I was also charged for these items. There was also no inspection done on the vehicle itself before departing the pickup location. When I arrived at my home I proceeded to unload the equipment from the cargo area of the vehicle and found that there were ONLY 2 furniture pads - not 12 and there was NO utility dolly or furniture dolly to be found!! I then called Adam's Tarp & Tool Co. and they responded by saying that they did not carry these items in stock and were sorry for any misinformation that occurred. At the time I did not realize that they had charged me for these items which were not present. I am requesting a full refund for these items be placed back onto my credit card ASAP. I would also like to have the charges for the extra mileage negated/refunded onto my credit card ASAP as well for the inconvenience this caused with my move as this was on top of being given a larger vehicle than what was requested which resulted in more fuel being used, less allowable mileage and far more cost to cross over to the mainland via BC Ferries than would have been incurred had I received the vehicle I requested. It is worth noting that there was a 16ft. U-Haul rental on their property that they were not willing to part with even though it was more practical to rent that particular vehicle to myself for a move off island than to the person who had a reservation after mine that was using it on Vancouver Island and did not need to go off island. If you could please contact me in regards to this matter As Soon As Is Possible that would be greatly appreciated.NATHEN M.

We ordered the equipment online then went to pick it up at the scheduled location and time. They did not have the blankets or furniture dolly ready. In fact, there wasn't a furniture dolly available nor was there 3 dozen clean blankets we ordered. Of the 36 blankets they were finally able to round up, only about 12 of them were clean. Many were so dirty we didn't and wouldn't use them. Very disappointing.LOUISE H.

Our contract originally had the Tempo in Duncan as the drop off location. The Tempo location was very disorganized and the owner tried charging us for milage because he couldn't convert milage to kilometres. The contract had the required amount in miles while the vehicle was reading in kilometres. This is also something Uhaul should ensure that the contracts read in consistent miles or kilometres. The owner at the Tempo station started shouting at us and through the contract back to us telling us to leave. We turned around and returned the vehicle to Adams Tarp and Tool where we dropped off another Uhaul over a year ago. Adams was very accomodating.LEN B.
This experience we had with U-HAUL in general was like a day from hell. First, we had book the trailer over a month in advance, to be picked up in Victoria. When we were called to confirm our pick-up time and location, we were told we would have to drive 30-40 minutes to Sydney instead. Despite calling U-HAUL customer service, no explanation or consolation for this inconvenience was offered. As such, we drove the 40 minutes to Sydned to pick up our trailer. When we arrived, the representative said "oh no, nobody called you??" We then discovered that our trailer had been taken in for repairs, and no one had called us to let us know that we should not drive to Sydney. At that point, I tried numerous times to contact U-HAUL customer service, and continued to get hung-up on due to "technical difficulties" with the U-HAUL phone system. Fortunately, the representative at the Sydney U-HAUL was able to connect with someone named Sonia, via her computer chat system. We waited an hour to hear back from Sonia or anyone else from U-HAUL. Finally, after I insisted that someone speak to us, we were told we would have to drive to Duncan to pick up a U-HAUL trailer, which was 90+ minutes away. U-HAUL representatives purposefully hung up on us twice, a representative named Jessica was extremely rude to us on the phone, and no one expressed any sympathy. Despite this long drive (3+ hours round trip), all we were offered was a $50 discount, which didn't even cover the cost of deisel gas for us to drive all the way to Duncan and back. On top of all this, Sonia had said that she would call me to explain the situation, and we never did hear from her, despite several attempts to call her ourselves. After all this, we arrived in Duncan to pick up the trailer from Adam's Tarp & Tools, only to recieve rude service. The staff at this location bashed U-HAUL and the services they provide, and also told us that they didn't give a damn about what we had just been through. They also told us we were not allowed to wait in their store as we waited to hear from Sonia (who never called). Finally, we decided to cut our losses, as we had to be out of our apartment by the end of the day. What should have taken us less than an hour (pick up a trailer in Victoria) took us over FIVE hours. We recieved nothing short of horrible and unacceptable service, and were treated like shit all around. I will never rent from U-HAUL again, and have posted our story on facebook, twitter, several blogs, as well as emailed everyone I know. In addition, we have emailed and phoned several news and radio stations, as we are appalled with how U-HAUL does business. To top this all off, our U-HAUL got a flat tire while we were on our way to our destination. Shockingly, there were no spare tires provided for the trailer. After calling the roadside assistance phone number listed on our contract, we were told someone would come change the tire within one hour. We were to pick up the truck in victoria B.C. yet we were sent in an hour cab ride to duncan B.C.!As expected we were less then pleased with the casual demminer of the victoria manager that sent us there,he was aloof and stand-offish from our point of arrivial.This effected our time schedule and cost us a extra day in a hotel.I expected more respectful -ness under the circumstances.I had asked if he could replace the truck,or have it brought to us!We also noticed a truck on the lot in victoria he responded by adding that a lady had forgotten her lincences and went to retrieve it we had mentioned our prio-appt.My mother,my movers and myself were all very put off by this service.I understand that delays can often occur by the handeling of this could have been adresssed with more care and dilligence.Warmest reguards Dacia richardsonDACIA R.
