The guy at the location was fine, good service. Truck has a check engine light and runs rough. The reservation was for a 20' truck, only a 17 footer available and this resulted in an extra trip and drove up the milage charge

My rating has some to do with this location and the previous location that sent us to this location and the company in general. I reserved a truck for Saturday morning at 8. I received a call at 7 am the day of from customer service telling me to pick up the at 1789 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA. I was ok with this because it was only 10 minutes from the home I would be moving from. We showed up early around 7:50 and was told that our truck still had the previous renters items inside, this would take half a day to move to storage. The agent then called customer service who wanted to change the truck to a 15’ which is larger than I reserved and would therefore take more gas for the same price. I insisted on getting a 10’ which was the size I reserved. I was told the nearest 10’ truck was about an hour away from my house in Elizabeth City. I needed to be able to pack the truck before it started thunder storming this day so I agreed for a $100 discount. The problem I have is the mileage I was “allowed” to use did not include the 1 hour trip to my house from the new location OR any tolls I would have to pay in addition to the 2 hour round trip drive. I really appreciated the discount, however I was very disappointed that there isn’t a contingency in place for when someone decide to either not return the truck or return it on time. Sometimes the weather does not allow half a day to move that persons products to storage. We were able to pack the truck but the compartmentalization of the company makes it so I’m not sure the drop off site knew that we had to drive the truck an additional 50 miles just to get in to the original house to pack it. Also the Elizabeth city location most likely did not know as well when drawing up the paperwork for mileage use. He wasn’t even aware of the discount, which was unknowingly on the paperwork. As a customer, if I am to be passed off from first agent to customer service to second agent. I would really have liked it if they could at least look and see the full story and take that into account. It is not my job to set how many miles I am “allowed” to drive the truck. I would definitely like to see this whole process get better since this was my first cross country move with this company. Based on this experience I can’t see myself going through this process again in the future with this company. Moving in general is stressful enough without having to take into account all the last minute changes and trying to fit into a tight timeline and budget, gas-wise and truck-wise. A 15’ truck would have called for more gas than the $150-$175 we paid to put gas in the 10’ truck.

The persin was friendly but I was not told the truck would leak! Some of my furniture and mattress got wet!

This location did exactly the expected as with previous rentals. The stor safe location gave me such a hassle I won’t even mention all the details like wrong size trucks or ones rented with trailers under 24-7 preventing the app to allow checking out a truck . Candie was exquisite! I can’t express enough how much an asset she is to the business. Without her I would never got my foot into a truck She guided me from issue to solved and right into a truck! After 3 hrs away from my newborn that I breastfeed and losing 3 movers waiting and calling multiple times just to get disconnected. As a person who works in the hospitality industry this was greatly appreciated. Felt like I finally got the warm help I give out. Have yet to experience anything closer than her!! Way to go Candie!!!!! Thank you!!!

The horn and the cruise control did not work. The check engine light flickered off and on several times during the trip and then stayed on continuously on the last part of the trip. The guy that rented the truck was very arrogant and rude. Acting like we were causing him not to get any work done.
