The ball hitch of my trailer was not tightened down AT ALL. When loading the car I just purchased, the trailer lifted and crashed into the back of my truck and drug the new driveway of the prior owner. There should be a fail safe method of verification of lock down.

I have rented (2) trailers in the last few weeks from this location and experienced (3) blowouts. Two on the same day! After the second new tire I noticed that one of the remaining tires on this dual axle trailer was also newish as it still had the small nubs that new tires have. I guess the next renter will get to replace the 4th tire. To their credit, roadside assistance got someone to me within 90 minutes each time, however I don't use Uhaul to sit on the side of the road.

the truck was given to us with a warning light on. when we asked the employees at the pick up location to verify it was okay to drive, they explained the truck's tire was low. although they tried to fill the tire with air, they claimed they did not have the right equipment to do so. we were sent off to fill the tire ourselves, which took considerable time out of our busy moving schedule. the next day, along our drive, we had to stop roadside to have a new tire put on. this also took time from our moving schedule. none of this would have happened if the truck was ready for us to use at the designated pick up time.

The computer system/on-line reservation is very frustrating and turns in to a lengthy process. We almost always have to regive all of our information upon arrival and create a new reservation.

Brake job and new shocks prior to renting this truck again. It was the worst truck I’ve ever rented! We did not feel safe! The back door broke so we had to call roadside service. I sent in an email about the experience and I’m going to call customer service tomorrow.

The truck was full of dog hair and smelled terribly from "air freshener". I had to clean the truck thoroughly before using it.The passenger side wiper blade had a clip missing also. I have used this location numerous times and have not had this issue previously.

They did not close clamp the tongue of the trailer to my hitch, it detached while loading the trailer, damaging both my truck, (the tow vehicle) and my car that I was loading onto the trailer. Tie down rackets did not work, surge brakes were out of adjustment, the trailer would sound like it is hitting the back of the truck every time I applied the brakes, trailer was bent so it impacted the bottom of my car during loading and unloading. When I called the location they laughed and said contact the roadside assistance number, "they will hook you up"

Location had no provision for a drop off when closed. There was a gate closing the driveway from the highway, so 26ft truck had no place to go.

The individual was closed and had a bar across the drive when we arrived at 5:30 on Saturday. When we called to figure out what to do with the truck the owner told us he closed at 5, was closed on Sunday and we would have to come back on Monday and pay for an extra day. We were told by corporate that his hours were until 7pm M- Sat. and he was open on Sundays unto 5. Corporate saved the day for us by working it out and I am grateful for that.

They close early evening and lock a gate across their entrance so that you can't return equipment to their parking lot after hours. I asked him why he had a drop box for contracts and keys if he locks people out and prevents them from dropping off after hours, and he said, "Oh, that's just a Uhaul thing. They do that everywhere." It would have been nice to have been able to drop off equipment after hours and leave the contract and key in the drop box. Instead, I once had to leave a truck parked outside their gate at night, step over the gave and leave the contract and key in the drop box. This time, I had to drive around with a trailer on my car until they opened the next day. Inconvenient, illogical...

When I rented the U-Haul, it was not explained to me that the mileage was a set rate, not just an estimate. Because I drove conservatively, I did not use near as much knowledge as the estimated amount, and felt I should’ve received a credit back for that mileage.

UHaul charges $35 to sweep out the trailers if you don't when you are done with it; however there was a lot of dirt/leaves and debris in the one I received. You could give folks a credit if they return the trailer early, which I did but didn't receive one.

This place saved the experience for me. Originally, I had a rental with JR Furniture and Mattress on Chestnut in Bastrop, Not only could I not get anyone at that location to help or even show up, the trucks that were outside were unsecured. The one truck that was secure had JR's paperwork in it because he was using it for his own personal business. Then I sat on hold for 36 out of the 45 minutes trying to clear this up on the phone with Uhaul customer service. I drove from 79720 to 78602, left at 7:30 am to make it by 2 pm. I found no one answering phones or answering the door.

The day of rental, I called around noon to see if I could pick the trailer up early. After the lady took a while, she said it was at the location and yes, I could pick it up early. I got there at 3:30 or so for a 5pm reservation. I was told the trailer was rented out that morning at 9:25am. So I was lied to. The guy found me another trailer in Bastrop, 15 miles away, but it took him too long to call and verify the trailer was there. At this location, Elgin, and in Bastrop, I waited way too long in a warm building while the guys pecked their way through the Uhaul online process. 4 years ago, in Austin........they did the express hookup and I was out of there in 5 minutes. But the bottom line was the trailer reserved for me was rental out and I was lied to that the trailer was there waiting for me.. Brandi Williams

We originally had a contract, made Monday May 14, to pick up a 26' truck in Smithville, TX. The master order number is 22092448. The pick up information was 400 Royston, Smithville, TX, to be picked up Wednesday May 16. When we arrived the U-Haul agent said there was no truck, she had contracted the only 2 she had on Tuesday. As a result we had to scramble to find another truck. The truck we found was about 20 miles away north of Bastrop, adding an additional 35-40 miles to our trip, for which we had to pay additional mileage when we returned the truck. The U-Haul rep at Bastrop Feed was very professional (in contrast to the rep at The Pickett Fence in Smithville who was rude and had no interest in assisting us, who called us a liar saying we did not have a truck reserved despite our having a contract number with her information on it.)
