No one was at the location when I went to pick up the truck, the prior day (Friday) I received a call from uhaul saying glSaturday would be the pick up day at no cost as the location would be closed Sunday. No one ever mentioning online check out. So Saturday expecting it to be open I waited over an hour tho king they were on lunch ... no one showed up .. took another hour to go through the steps with customer service before I finally got the truck. Also I was meant to be back at work. This was a 2 hour ordeal. After returning the truck Sunday. I spoke to the derwent location and they were saying I would now be charged for Saturday? I sent them emails of this nee Saturday - Monday reservation. I only needed this truck Sunday afternoon they were to look into it . Then no reply from them Monday oTuesday I had the online location info sent to the location to close the reservation, this was not done and I didn't reviver a call from them confirming anything. Now today Wednesday I still haven't had the confirmation of the truck being brought back. Or a Bill. For just the one day. I'm completely annoyed with this whole ordeal as it is my first uhaul rental. Def nothing simple about it ...guess we will see what happens tnrw ...

The car stap tie down was torn - however it was not the fault of the dealer pick-up, the strap was put away. But other other than that unit was good.

This form doesn't ask about my experience with Uhaul the company, only the pickup/drop off places and I can't fault them. But my experience with Uhaul was a headache. I originally booked the truck from a Uhaul location right across the street from me, but it was changed to another location without me knowing. I was only made aware the night before when they called to confirm pick-up time. It would've been helpful for Uhaul to contact me to let me know that I would need to change locations and maybe ask where I'd prefer. Instead I had to go to a location that was very inconvenient and out of my way. The lady at the pick up spot was nice enough to compensate with extra km. Once I arrived to pick up the truck we were informed that the one we booked a month in advance was not available, so instead of the 15' truck we booked we were told they only had the 26' truck (at the same cost). Again, no one told us this in advance so we couldn't make alternate arrangements. We were making a 14 hour drive with no experience driving trucks in the past, so surprising us with a huge truck and having no alternatives was not good at all. But at that point we had no other options and had to take the truck. Once driving it was ok, except I'm sure we spent a lot more on gas than we anticipated due to driving a larger/heavier truck on the highway (and the truck was only a quarter full). It was an ok drive during the day but when we were driving through the rain at night, the lights on the truck aren't very bright and we felt very unsafe. The pick up place did the best they could but it's not fair that Uhaul depends on them to relay information to customers that they should be doing. I was told during the pick up process that the fine print of your reservation says that it does not guarantee that you'll get your booked truck, but Uhaul should definitely do more to let you know in advance that the trucks are over booked or contact you to see what would work better in the situation (a 10' truck would've done the trick in our case). It's also very poor company policy to make the representatives at the pick up place have to tell the customers about rental changes since they have very little information about what can be done. We did call the regional head office to find out if we could get a different truck in another location and the man we spoke to there was very rude and did not care about our situation. He just kept asking us repeatedly if we wanted to cancel our booking instead of apologizing or explaining the situation or looking for alternatives. Because of all this I'm not sure I'd book with Uhaul again.

I've rented UHAUL trucks all my life (USA & Canada) and nothing compares to the wonderful experience I had with this broker. The lady was absolutely pleasant and very knowledgeable as well. Will come here for sure next time!

My comments are offered in the spirit of cooperation rather than assigning blame. I was advised that the truck had lost 1.5 quarts of transmission fluid. Of course it was topped up. However, in my experience, losing transmission fluid is a red flag for possible serious mechanical issues. Since I was traveling in winter conditions, that put me at risk for breaking down in an area with no cell service. My suggestion is a truck in that condition be immediately removed from service until it became roadworthy again.

When I booked the truck by phone I specifically said I needed to drop off at the location in Tsawwassen. At the end of my long day of moving I found out that the drop off location had been changed to Annacis Island - quite far from my home. When we arrived there the location was extremely hard to find - thankfully the staff there was wonderful. Will not use UHaul again or recommend to anyone.

The trailer we recieved was not safe to leave the yard. My dad realized this after he left the yard, had to go to another location and replace the trailer with a new one. There is no excuse that the original trailer was not inspected when it was returned. We are lucky my dad noticed a problem with the trailer before they were stuck going thru the mountian passes at night.

Waterproof the "attic" portion of the box. Otherwise excellent experience. Dispatching office was pleasant and helpful in giving extra miles to accommodate longer route to avoid bad weather. Truck was easy to drive and seemed to be safely maintained. All in all, a satisfactory business experience which I would be happy to recommend to friends and acquaintances.
