owner was not present, truck was dirty and not inspected. No one confirmed the milage or condition of the truck. I agreed to tow a trailer for Uhaul...I did not ask for a trailer I did it for favor and discount. The workers at pickup location did not know how to hook it up. They did it wrong and when I drove off and got on highway, the trailer came unhook and I started dragging the trailer by the chain. It was flying back and forth behind my truck, and lucky it did not kill someone on the highway. I pulled over and a trucker stoped and helped me pick up the trailer and reattach it to truck. I drove back yo yard and told the workers to unhook the trailer as it was a major safety hazzard. The bed of the truck was not cleaned, I had to clean it out before i could load my furniture....

1) The lady was behind the counter was on a personal call and we waited 7- min for her to finish and say, "Okay, I love you; bye-bye." Then, she didn't know my reservation existed, couldn't find the right paperwork for the 6x12 trailer for quite some time. Once she located the paperwork, she couldn't educate us on the different types of coverage for the trailer stating, "I don't know what it covers. It doesn't show me. There's a $5 coverage, a $30 one and a $60+ coverage." Fortunately, my daughter had just arrived from Louisville, KY one week earlier and had bound coverage on the 6x12 U-Haul trailer she brought to Texas. My daughter got online and confirmed the difference in coverage and we were able to make an informed consumer decision. 2) The lady behind the counter then had a young kid 17-19 years of age, go out to hook the trailer up who tried, bless his heart, but had no idea what he was doing. He was very honest about it qand said that wasn't what he usually did for the company. 3) When my daughter and I helped him get the trailer hooked up (yes, we had to physically remove the concrete block for him to lift the trailer and show him how the lights hooked up), one side of the lights in the back didn't work and when you turned the blinkers on, only one side worked and the other side caused the license plate light to blink consistently. The young guy did know that wasn't supposed to happen. 4) By this time, I'm frustrated and stating to tell her, "In 40 years of using U-Haul, I've never had this much trouble. It's usually concise, the dealer knows the product, and it's ALWAYS been accurate. Why are you struggling so? Are you just learning this?" SHE FINALLY CALLED ANOTHER STORE!!! ***An awesome, 35+ year old man pulled up 25-min later with a different 6x12 trailer and hooked up right away, made sure the lights were properly working. After an hour and 20 minutes, we finally left.** 4) After all of that trouble, the lady then billed the wrong card, in spite of being given the right, physical debit card and for an amount different than the trailer was set up for over the phone. We had to call the U-Haul main line the next day to get things corrected. That $99 rental ended up costing $160. That dealership is a disgrace to the U-Haul tradition of excellence. I've even encountered a grumpy, old man or two over the years, but they knew what they were doing and how to get the truck/ trailer/car transporter (yes, I've rented all) safely on the road. This dealer left me feeling like I was at risk for an accident and that safety was not a consideration. Until that young man came who knew what he was doing, we weren't only frustrated - we were afraid for our safety in traveling. I do thank the lady for realizing finally, that she just didn't know U- Haul business and she called someone else.

America's One Shop charged me twice for the contract $461.90 then $361.90. I asked why I was being charged $100.00 over the initial quote and was told I would be reimbursed upon drop off of rental truck. I checked my credit card account and noticed two charges for the same rental. I called AOS and they said they would remove the $461.90 charge, but it is still listed as pending on my credit card online statement. Suggestion, if the clerk doesn't know what he is doing, just be honest. He mentioned the secretary was at the doctor's office when he processed my rental and made the mistakes. I rather deal with a competent clerk than an incompetent clerk.
