The 24 hour checkout with your phone process was an utter nightmare. My reservation was at 9:30 and I was there to pick it up at 9:25. The online check out process was so difficult it took until 10:15. I went through ALL the steps as instructed to take pics of my drivers license and myself. Then, I had to WAIT for approval from an online customer service agent to finish the check out which took then forever. They barely responded to me, and when they did finally, the person wanted to call someone else just to verify who I was when I had already proved that!!!! After 45 minutes of hell dealing with your ridiculous system and agents I finally get the truck and the dolly, I paid for, was missing. Then, when I was done, I took it back not knowing that I had to put in gas and check mileage. That should’ve been something the system tells the customer as soon as we pick up the truck. The entire experience was awful and I’ll never use this company nor recommend it again.

The UHAUL representative from this location was not helpful when she confirmed our reservation the day prior. We had to drive from 30+ minutes away, and they did not have all of the equipment we requested. Rather than providing which location in our area had the outstanding material, she informed us that we needed to call the other locations ourselves. This was not a good example of customer service by UHAUL or the specific representative from the Altavista, VA location.

I made a reservation weeks ago for Lynchburg VA. I saw nowhere in my contract that it was possible I wouldn't get a vehicle at my desired location after I made my reservation. The day before I made my out of state move I get an auto generated email saying my new location was Alta Vista. I wasn't even given mileage to cover the extra drive time. I had to call and ask. I then had to drive to Roanoke to get the tow dolly and then back to Lynchburg to pack the truck. I will not be using uhaul again. The lady at this location was very pleasant.

Had to call customer service to change the drop off location. The lot was easy to maneuver with a trailer. They were closed when I dropped off the the trailer. But customer service at 7am was helpful even though I was not gonna drive 250 miles to drop off the trailer.

We were charged an extra day due to poor communication. We had originally wanted to pick up at 11am, and told we should return at 11am the next day. And we were told we could pick up at any time before 11 am. When we picked truck up at 9:45, we still believed we could return at 11 am. But we had an emergency at home that night and were unable to unload. We were called in the morning that they needed it by 9:45, unbeknown to us. We unloaded in the morning and returned it by 11 am --AND WERE CHARGED AN EXTRA DAY. Communication was bad and we were charged an extra day due to poor communication! I want my refund.

At least this one had a drop box. You sent me miles out of my way because the attendant in Bedford clicked the wrong button and that location didn't even have an after hours drop off box.

The location opens at 9 on Saturday I needed to be hooked and gone by 730. Got the dolly had to hook it up myself with no help. Didn't even help check the lights. Just went inside. Went to load the vehicle on it and the strap was in a bind in the handle. Had to take it to another location for repair.

This location didn't have any furniture pads and was 30 miles from our house. To be fair though, this is a very small uhaul rental shop so I place more blame on Uhaul the company than on this particular location because the company ultimately was the one who mis-scheduled my reservation.

Irene, the manger at Altavista Online was professional, courteous and helpful. However, the telephone representative I spoke to on Monday regarding a change to the drop off location was very rude, unaccommodating and not helpful. I encourage you to pull the telephone recording and listen to the interaction that transpired. I hung up with that representative, called again, and spoke with a different representative (I believe her name was Diane) and she was friendly and very helpful.

I brought the vehicle back with the exact same amount of gas and I was told I didn't owe anything so I was "good to go" a few days later I receive an email saying I owe uhaul $131 and some change! This is not how you do business. This was my first and last time using the uhaul place in altavista, va!

I rented an auto transport. All equipment was available (straps, ramps, chains, electric, ramps) and working however the trailer hoped excessively, It was not my inexperience since I had rented several from the Lynchburg office. A wheel or axle may be causing an issue. All other services and experience was excellent and I will rent from this location again in the future. another note. Uhaul Timberlake Rd Lynchburg was extremely helpful in securing the equipment when the ones at their facility were scheduled for use and not available.

Make sure that someone is available to provide a clean vehicle. Make sure that call center representatives are doing what they say and not misleading customers.

This was a NIGHTMARE. NOT due to the actual franchisee, but dealing with Uhaul as a company. They screwed up royally, booking a truck 41 miles away, when my move was 42 miles in a different direction. They "confirmed" a reservation with a store that was CLOSED FOR SIX WEEKS FOR FAMILY REASONS. THEN WHEN THERE WAS THIS PROBLEM THE CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON NEVER CALLED ME BACK. NEVER USING UHAUL AGAIN.

The trailer I received was defective in that the door wouldn't close. However, the lady helped me document my issues with the truck and vouched my story when corporate called. I received sub par equipment, but received stellar customer service.

Signs everywhere telling you what you can and cannot do. If the toilet runs after flushing it don't expect the customers to wait for it (as indicated on a giant sign) just fix the toilet. Probably could have done that with the same effort. Not a customer focused environment.

This location seems to always be closed no matter what time you try to go there. Not a convenient location for customers that want to talk to a live person. There is just a drop box. I wouldn't do a drop off at this location again!!

The Altavista location was 30 miles from my preferred location in Lynchburg and "alternate" to the location (also in Lynchburg) where I was scheduled to pick up the trailer. The original scheduled location did not have any trailers in stock when I arrived, even though I had reserved a trailer weeks in advance and received a text confirmation that the trailer would be there. Overall, a very frustrating experience.
