Location said it was open until 7pm but arrived at 6.20 and it was locked up. Very poor exterior lighting. Drop box for key was not lit and hard to find. It was almost invisible behind a hedge on a gate separate from the office building. As a lone female I felt very unsafe with this drop off location.LOUISE B.

It is currently Thursday, April 29th. I made a reservation using U-haul's website for a U-Haul April 20th, for the 21st. The 21st date came and went seemingly without much issue (vehicle picked up at 9am, returned at approximately 3pm for a six hour window). My card was taken twice, but apparently that day I was only charged for boxes and tape which I also purchased. Fast forward to Monday, I receive an e-mail invoice from U-haul stating that I need to pay (wait, didn't I already do that? How many times do they need my credit card) an amount that is approximately $50 more than what I was told I was charged on the 21st. I use uhaul.com/payment in the email and enter in my information and no information on my account comes up. So, I call their 1-800 number, after speaking with someone on the phone I am told that the information has not yet been posted to their system, so they can't accept payment (even though, they can e-mail me and threaten me with a $30 late fee?). Regardless, I am told to wait a couple of days and try again. So Wednesday the 28th comes around, now a full week after I have already rented and returned the truck. I go to uhaul.com/payment enter in my information, and am presented with a payment form, I ONCE AGAIN enter in my credit card information, take a screenshot of the payment received and confirmation number because at this point all trust has been annihilated and low and behold, the next day: Thursday, April 29th, 2021 I now have another email in my inbox claiming that $227.27 is due from firstname.lastname@example.org? I replied to them with the previous day's confirmation number, screenshots from U-haul's website as well as my credit card account showing a deduction from 2021-04-28, and told them to expect the worst possible review. email, websites, and credit card processing are 20th century technologies. To claim that in 2021, U-haul still doesn't have this figured out is beyond infuriating, it seems as if they are pulling a scam. I will do everything in my power to never use them again. The Monterey location staff at Airport Road Self Storage seemed friendly and helpful, I don't intend this review to be a reflection of them. This is squarely upon U-Haul's follow up and clearly attempting to charge me more than was owed with outright threats.Christian D.

Rented a box van Sunday, dropped it off before 5pm. Monday morning I get a call from the rude lady asking where I had put the key. I was never instructed to the night key drop. The plastic key chain said â€œspare keyâ€ on it so I put the key above the sun visor. Rude lady proceeded to tell me that she's going to call a lock smith and that she was going to stick me with the bill. I told her yea right. Rude rude sad lady.DANE D.

My rental experience overall was poor. The truck was great. No problems. But I rented to go from Monterey to Arcata and back. It's about 400 miles one way. I was told I'd have a little over 800 miles. My contract was totally botched in that the scheduler had to put in that I was going from San Jose to Arcata to get me a better deal apparently. Of course UHaul then charged me almost 70$ extra for the additional miles twice between Monterey and San Jose. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. One star as this cost me an hour of time at time of rental to work out that I was returning to Monterey and not San Jose. And then the added 67$ for â€œextraâ€ miles which were not extra at all. They just had the wrong start/endpoint.Andrew J.

The man working was great. Uhaul's ridiculous price gouging was ridiculous. The online system failed and the man was unable to print me a receipt. The people that helped me throughout this experience were great, but Uhaul's awful website and online interface was so terrible I will be seeking an alternative next time I need to rent a moving truck.Grace M.

The guy that helped me out was super friendly! But I've been trying to get something squared away with my receipt now for almost two weeks with minimal help from the staff. I was charged for the extra insurance ($30) when I never requested it. Both in the office and online I explicitly stated I did not want the extra charge, but noticed it was added into my final bill... Rob was friendly and helpful. However, the 20ft I reserved was not at the store at 0830 and I got a phone call just minutes before 830 while I was on the way there about the truck not being there. I was told that it will be at Greenfield, CA not Montetey, CA at 10AM not 0830AM. This infuriated me due to the fact that I even spoke to the customer center the day before to confirm that I got my 20' truck for my move then this happened. Thankfully, Rob rented me a 15footer and i literally made it work. A complaint was filed by Edward for me over the phone ref. #2150104 an update would be great on that.kim M.

1. Difficult to locate and no parking available for drop off while we had to sit and wait for person to come back from lunch 2. We gave back more gas than we received at time of pick up - and yet your company charged us $1.17 extra for going over our mileage - which probably occurred while we were trying to locate this property and find a place to park the truck while we waited.tom N.
My receipt shows a charge on the 15' truck and a dolly for the total amt of $397.57 at this location although a dolly was not available. The rep that helped me with this reservation indicated that dolly was not available but offered me a car transport for the same price and pick up at Del Monte location. However, I was charged separately for the amount of $64.16. The bottom line is that I was charged separately for the dolly and car transport. No problem with the location, however i am not a happy customer. I drove the truck19 miles, put 2 gallons of gas in the tank and was charged an additional $10.00 for gas. Apparently when i checked the vehicle out, the gas tank reading was incorrect. When i have a choice, i won't be using uhaul in the future.Michael G.

Truck was pretty beat up. I ordered 2 dozen blankets; facility only had 15 but did not notify me until there. Told at drop off that blankets needed to be folded. Perhaps this is written somewhere, but would be helpful to highlight. Blankets were dirty. Overall, good value for the money but not a great experience.Robert R.

Renter was obnoxious, overcharged me from the rate I was quoted, was rude, impatient, and list goes on and on. If I was part of undercover boss and was the CEO, I would have broken my cover and fired this person instantly. The amount of time I have spent in dealing with over-charged and incompetence requires compensation. I have rented with Uhaul constantly through the years and have never had a single issue; until now. Nothing about the experience at this location was acceptable. If I absolutely did not have to have the truck, I would not have taken it. This location needs serious re-structuring immediately. Finally, some compensation would be appreciated for this horrific treatment, additional wasted time, and general inconvenience.Mike R.

I made my reservation at the 2330 Del Monte location...for a reason. I got there early, waited in line for 30 minutes just to be told that they did not have the truck and I needed to go to the airport road location. I had gotten an order confirmation when I made the order so it would GREATLY improve your customer service if the equipment was at the location in which you agreed to rent it out. If there are no available trucks at the location, it should state that when the reservation is being made and suggest another location close by. Thanks to this, I lost an hour of valuable moving time off my reservation and had to leave my vehicle unattended and unsafe outside the gate at the bottom of airport road and hope it did not get broken into.Maecyn L.

The associate ( I believe his name is Rob ) is the most friendly and cheerful Uhaul associate I've ever met! Taking care of multiple customers at once and making it such a pleasant experience! A++! Originally I was supposed to pick up on Del Monte Ave. They did not communicate well at all. Then told me to drive two hours north to pick up the truck. Then told us they would be open and were closed when we arrived. Then moved me from a 15ft to 20ft and finally to a 26ft truck. The main location was awful as were customer service reps in the phone. Finally I found Terry (?) at the travel center. She was amazing! Kind, helpful and completely focused on my needs. She sent me to the guys on Airport Rd and they were wonderful and helpful. I made it driving the huge truck though I could use a massage for tension.Erin S.
My preferred pick up location that I reserved online was changed at the last minute (4pm on Friday for 9am Sat pick up) by your corporate office leaving me stranded and forced to take a taxis to pick up my truck. If your company will not honor online location choices, then you should remove the option from your website. The representative onsight agreed that the change without adequate notification was an embarassment for your company, but despite the bad start, was most helpful in getting me on my way.Shad E.
