On 11-9-21 I made an online reservation for a truck pick up on 12-26-21 (order #25118XXX) at 950 W. Mission Ave, Escondido, CA.Â I understood the pick up location could change due to availability.Â On 12-13-21 I received an automated text message from U-Haul notifyingÂ me the pick up location would now be at 27941 Jefferson Ave, Temecula, CA.Â On 12-23-21 I received another automated text message notifying me the pick up location would now be at 225 W. Washington Ave, Escondido, CA.Â Additionally, I received an in person phone call from U-Haul reservations notifying me of this location for pick-up. On 12-23-21 I called that location listed on the text (760) 741-0749 and spoke with an employee who confirmed my reservation and pick up date/time. On 12-26-21 at 9:00 AM, I arrived to pick up my reserved truck.Â The store employee began some computer work for which I assumed would be about 5 or 10 minutes since my reservation was confirmed and made well in advance.Â He told me the U-Haul computer system was not letting him complete my reservation.Â He made a phone call to someone who tried to help him but they were still unable to process the reservation, even thoughÂ he did have my information.Â There was never an explanation of what the problem was. After 30 minutes of waiting, I was told that I was supposed to be picking up the truck at a different location.Â I feel this was just an excuse the employee gave me because he couldn't figure out my order.Â I showed him the text message from U-Haul showing his store as the pick up location and told him I called his store 3 days prior to confirm it.Â He looked at the text, shrugged his shoulders, and said the only thing he could do for me was to cancel my reservation (which HE did) and treat me as a "walk in customer" and start my order over.Â Â As if this wasn't stressful enough for my family's moving day out of state, I was required to pay $1,521.40 for this truck rental.Â A $379.40 differenceÂ from my originalÂ reservation amount of $1,142.Â Why?? I made my reservation well in advance, confirmedÂ my pick up location in advance, and through absolutelyÂ no fault of my own, my reservation was canceledÂ and I was forced to pay over $300 more to get the truck.Â The truck was fine and the move went great, but the process of getting the truck on the pick up day was unsatisfactoryÂ customer service.TROY G.
I have used this location on 3 separate occasions. I time the employee was helpful and polite. The other two occasions have been a nightmare. The 2 occasions that were a nightmare involved returning a trailer. Perhaps they don't want the trailers. The first time I was forced to park a 16 foot trailer in a very small space and then unhitch it. I did manage to get it done, completely alone. I have horses and a trailer so I am familiar with unhooking the hitch and the electrical. But I do not think most women could do it (and probably not many men) The second time, I rented a 20 foot uhaul truck and a car tow trailer. The employee, again insisted I park it, and unhook the tow, in pouring down rain, at night. I was able to unhook everything but not physically strong enough to hand crank the hitch high enough to get the hitch off the ball. The employee could see me struggling in the rain and cold and in the dark. i would not treat any human being the way he treated me.. He offered no help and was annoyed. I had to contact uhaul who told me to leave it and check in online. Unless you are physically strong enough to unhitch various trailer hitches ALONE, and experienced enough to park traiers that measure up to 30 feet in total length, into tight places (this loction is small, and consists of a gas station and beer wine /mini mart, so you have to maneuver around gas pumps and alcohol customers in a poorly light parking lot) do not use this place for dropping off.NADINE J.

I felt bad renting from a gas station location. The employee was very busy working the gas station and renting U-Hauls. It's a bit much for 1 person to do. Next time I prefer to rent from a Uhaul storeLUIS T.
U-Haul needs moving trucks with lifts in the back, makes it easier to load/unload stuff and faster for the customer.LINDA C.

When I turned in my truck I was only charged $34 because I only use 2 miles. And then yesterday I go look at my account and U-Haul took $84 I will be contacting.SUSAN B.

It was an extremely HoT day. No a/c nor fan. 1 person behind the counter, 2 businesses. Even though I was in a hurry I had to let not 1, not 2, but several people go ahead of me to purchase gas,or paraphernalia (while I'm melting) b.c he had to lock the store in order to go outside & point to the truck. (Which had a filthy windshield & NO FLUID) Tried to hand me the keys only & expected me to squeeze in about a 12" or less clearance to open the door. I've never experienced service like this@ any uhaul. Not to mention that it would be common sense to carry at least a few moving supplies if your renting the trucks. Just beware that there is nothing extra available here. No tape, no locks, no boxes, no moving blankets.Joy J.

The service that I received was fast and professional I would recommend anybody who needs a U-Haul this is the place to go to their professional nice I mean all around just good people they take take the time to explain the contract to you if you have any questions whatsoever they're willing to help you if there's a problem they're willing to try everything to solve that problem with no hesitation with no attitude with just playing professional customer service so please if you need to rent a U-Haul stop by at AAA fuel to rent your U-Haul truck. I have used the services for years. However, for me, this was my first time using this particular location and I must say the individual on today was multitasking and she was unbelievable! If UHaul had a survey that provided 20 Stars - that would be my number of STARS For her.ANTHONY B.
I made a reservation online for a one-way truck and I fully expected to pick up the keys with no issues. The specific truck I reserved was onsite, but after 20 minutes of waiting the employee informed me that the system was not letting him give me that truck for some unknown reason. He offered me another truck, but I initially said â€œNo. I want the truck that I had reserved online. I've already clicked through everything and uploaded pictures, etc.â€ After another 15 minutes wasted waiting for him trying to figure things out, I finally agreed to take the other truck that he had available. He asked, â€œCan you bring it back to us?â€ I replied sure, as long as I don't have to pay more for the mileage. He stated, â€œOf course, no problem!â€ And reassured me everything would be the same. Long story short, it was a different employee upon drop off and ended up paying for the extra mileage. I drove 41 miles back to Escondido with an empty truck. What really made matters worse is when I called (951)200-5416 to address my concerns, the lady was rude, interrupted me, and was unapologetic with horrible customer service. Her explanation that the location did not have any one way trucks did not make sense because the initial reservation that had brought me to that location in the first place confirmed that there in fact was a one way truck available and it was parked on the lot. Than she proceeded to tell me that they saved me a wrong destination fee and that I should've paid more! There's obviously a flaw in Uhaul's online booking system and the whole reservation experience was a mess. I'm extremely frustrated.NOLAN G.

Check in can be slow if other gas customers are present. When I tried to pick up my truck today, it was not in their system. They had to call UHaul and use the reservation number to track down the problem. They said the truck was at another location in town. I had to wait for the problem to be corrected. I did change the truck size the night before online. That may have triggered a change in location, but I was not notified by the UHaul system. I did get a confirmation of my change via e-mail, but that message did not show the new pickup address, so I had no way of knowing it changed. This is more a complaint for the creators of the online reservation system. It did not inform me of a change in pickup address. If it did, it would have saved me 30 minutes of wasted time!DAVID T.

Excellent! Offering late closing hours, less than half mile of two main freeways, expedited customer service, convenience store on site and fuel pumps available to refill your rental with cheapest fuel prices in town. ðŸ‘CARLOS S.
I'm glad they had the truck that I had reserved. They did not have all the rest of the equipment in my reservation. The rental blankets were a mess. Nice staff, but he was too busy with their gas station customers.Craig M.
Went to pick up our U-Haul at the scheduled time at the first place and they had closed four hours prior. Had to search all over went to the next place waited for 45 minutes they told me they had a 15 foot but then they only had a 26 foot so he was going to credit me back for all my trouble never did.Kathleen M.

This location is great. The staff are super friendly. But the trucks mirror was broken. And the whole mirror fixture was broken in a way that is wouldn't keep itself up so I could properly see out of it.Taylor H.

You originally scheduled my pick up location 1/2 mile from my home. Then the night before pickup, you changed it so that I had to make a 40 mile round trip to get the trailer. That kind of service SUCKS!! i KNOW YOU'RE BUSY ENOUGH THAT YOU DON'T GIVE A CRAP WHETHER YOU'RE CUSTOMERS ARE SATISFIED OR NOT. JUST HAD TO GET THIS OFF MY CHEST. This location is a gas station which poses many issues to renting a Uhaul here as customers are frequently walking in and being helped before you. I chose to use the mobile pick up option however, it did not work because the Uhaul website could not find my location even after my location services were turned on. After going inside I had to wait over 30 mins for the attendant to check me in for the reservation as he was helping every customer who walked in for gas, before continuing to help me. Additionally, after telling the attendant that I did not need insurance for the truck, he charged me for insurance. He called his supervisor to try to figure out how to correct this and told me I would be emailed a link to fill out paperwork on how to correct this mistake, which I still have not received. Overall, this was a very stressful experience and I do not feel that Uhaul was helpful throughout the situation.Kelsey R.

I have emailed one complaint to you earlier this evening. The check out and check in was pretty much a disaster. I will never recommend this location to either friend nor enemy. I liked the check in process because unlike my experience at the West Mission St. location in Escondido, this one did not involve a lengthy online self check in with photos, etc. The man in charge, Jimmy, was very good.RICHARD M.

The trailer had tree foilage/trash in it that I cleaned out with a broom that I borrowed from the attendant. There was only one attendant so there was a longer wait time than expected. Trailer met my needs and I returned it promptly. At least it was close to where I usually rent from.ROSA M.
The customer service at this location was unfriendly and rude. I had pulled the truck and tow dolly onto the property and parked it to the side to not block the entrance of the lot. I went inside to let them know I had a scheduled drop off. The man at the desk wanted me to move the truck and tow dolly to a different spot and asked me to back it in. And overall seemed inconvenienced that I was there. I let him know that I was not experienced and not comfortable Backing and moving the truck with a tow dolly attached. He had a very bad attitude about it. He went and got another man to finish the transaction and he was really nice and helpful. I wish I had asked for their names. I did not feel it was my job to move the truck on their property without the experience doing so. This was an unacceptable request from the employee to have me move the vehicle in their parking area.Debbie G.

I used 10 hours uhaul. Check out 9:40 am . Then return the truck at 8:00 pm same day . I filled gas at the same level as I rented it. They charged 2 days rental and gas. They are lied. I don't know they are feel shame or not . Never ever use this location again . Nuts . I call the uhaul service phone . I will let everybody knows what they did.Ping Z.
