I had no issue with A-1. They were helpful and even loaned the moving help a truck for free to move U-boxes to my house. Regarding furniture pads, I had way too many. I wonder how much less I would have paid if I could have only paid for those that were used. The recommendation I have for other customers is to set up reservations through local dealers and NOT through 1-800-GO-U-HAUL. Local people were good to work with, national people were incompetent, phone lines didn't work, couldn't give consistent answers to questions, couldn't clearly answer questions about charges, receipts they provided didn't make sense, calls to fix problems took forever (3+ hours in one case), request for moving help was not submitted, I had to call and double-check everything. I actually would not recommend using U-boxes because they have a long way to go to get their act together.Daniel F.

There was one piece of furniture that did not make it. It was not an expensive piece, so it was fine. The only comment I have is communication when you hire a mover. There was some communication from the mover and Uhaul. When I called Uhaul to get assistance they said I needed to call the mover. The mover did not get any communication from Uhaul to what location to pick up the box. The mover said they usually are provided that information more than the day or two before. This allows them to make arrangements. For me who lived in CA and moving my daughter back from Mississippi, this was frustrating. We were flying in, completing the move, and flying back. I could not have anything go wrong. I think better communication with me (the customer) would help. And it not be my responsibility to communicate between the movers and Uhaul.Anjanette W.
I called 2 days before I needed the boxes and was told I was all set that I would receive a call the next day to let me know what time I could pick them up. At 4:30 the next day I still hadn't heard from them so I called them. I was told that they saw the order that they that she would put in the system that I needed the boxes first thing in the morning as I had movers coming to unload them and that she facility would call me by 7pm. I waited until 6:55 and called again. This time I was told that they didn't see the order and that they had no more trailers for the boxes available so I wouldn't be able to pick them up. They told me they would have a manager contact me. I didn't receive a call back that evening and the next day waited until 11:30 then went into the facility in person. They all of sudden had multiple boxes available and was already loading it for me however still had not contacted me. I went home and got my truck and upon going around the buillding to hook up the 1st trailer that had 2 of the boxes I walked over to the remaining 2 boxes of mine and noticed 1 of the padlocks was not mine. I told the employee this was not my box. My husband pulled out his phone as we had taken pics of the numbers on the 4 boxes we had. We got the number that didn't match and the employee determined that it was still at the facility we moved from. We called the facility and they said that when they picked up the box to put it on the truck that would be bringing it to Texes 1 of the walls came apart so they had to completely reload the box into a new box and that the key taped to the box itself. We went back out, found the key and opened the box. It was full of our boxes but there were several that were noticeably crushed. We shut the door and brought it to the house where upon unloading it found the employees had unloaded the box I loaded from top to bottom thereby putting the lightest boxes on bottom and heaviest boxes on top. They didn't line up the boxes correctly so corners of boxes were in the center of the boxes below and boxes that had arrows directing which way to lay the box where ignored and boxes were laid on there side. I had many boxes containing very old china (115 years old), wedding keepsakes, baby and family keepsakes etc. all crushed and the contents broken. Also boxes that contained oil and vinegar and cooking supplies where laid on there sides so I oil, vinegar and liquid smoke all leaked out. They soaked through the box they were in and went into several other boxes around and under them also ruining the contents.heather D.

I reserved a 20 Ft truck and 30 pads a month in advance. I was called the morning of my reservation and told my truck was upgraded to a 26 ft. and only 29 pads were available. I told the man that I could not get a 26 ft. truck into my apartment complex in Birmingham thats why I reserved a 20 Ft. and I wanted the 30 pads that were reserved. I was sent across town to pickup my truck at a different location. Still no 20 Ft truck available so I had to settle for a 17 Ft. but they did have the 30 pads., and my helper was only with me for the day. The only reason I settled and did not walk out was because I had to be out of my house the next day and move my furniture into the new location due to my schedule. The other reason is because at the pickup location, Mr. Charlie Watkins did everything he could to "Make it Right" the best he could. I have moved many times in my military and current career but I will say that in the future I will not and will not recommend U-Haul to anyone. What a shame that a company this big cannot reserve the equipment that the customer has taken the time and effort to plan ahead to ensure the moving experience goes as planned. I am just lucky that I was able to pack the truck and get all my goods loaded otherwise I would have been leaving stuff behind.KENNETH C.

The gentleman that worked there was very friendly and helpful but his knowledge of the equipment was sub par. I wasn't sure, until I spoke with the gentleman at drop off, whether the trailer had brakes, how to hook up the safety chains properly and that once the trailer is loaded, it cannot be taken off the hitch by hand. My overall experience with the trailer was less desirable than expected.DAVID C.

Fortunately, when we arrived the personnel were just returning (about 11:40 a.m. from lunch. The location had been closed for some period of time prior to our arrival.
