The man at the front desk was very rude as we were going over the paperwork. Told me" he reviews the instructions quickly! "… and that he did. And when I repeated the instructions to make sure I had it correct as far as using the card and such it was as if I was wasting his time! We tried for well over 40 minutes trying to gain access with the card to finally be told it may take 30 minutes or longer to get activated and that we "may need to come back tomorrow "!!!!! We had unloaded 2 trucks already and live 2 hours from the storage unit! Eventually called the man in the store as he was closing at 7pm and he said computers are slow come back tomorrow. I then asked if he had a key to help us enter and he had no response. Then I said if we enter the unit alarms will sound ….and he replied" yep nothing I can do about that". At that point we were fed up with the attitude of this man so we entered the unit , alarms sounded and he eventually turned them off. Not a pleasurable experience. I originally rented a 6x12 trailer from a location in Menasha to be picked up at 7:00AM on Sunday. U-Haul moved my reservation to Jackson St in Oshkosh. Told me it was 24x7 location so I cold still pick up on Sunday morning. Got there and no one was around and found they are not open on Sunday. After numerous attempts to manually check in with the website and phone calls, finally got transferred to Koehler St in Oshkosh but couldn't pick up until 9:00. Got there 6 mins early and the guy was adamant that they did not open until 9:00 so I waited. Told him my situation and he had no sympathy and then tried to charge me over $79 for a trailer I had already rented and prechecked in at $40.75. He argued and then finally blamed the computer system and charged me correctly. Then only 2 of the 4 lights in opposite corners on back actually worked correctly and one marker light when flashers were on. All marker lights on the right side and 2 in back did not work. The staff was very disrespectful. It took a while for someone to assist with a trailer return. One employee finally told me to just drop it anywhere by the trailers so that's what I did. I waited at least an additional 20 minutes for another employee that was outside to finally walk over by me and before he got there he yelled that I put it in the wrong spot after I already had it disconnected. He shrugged in a disrespectful manner and just walked away and never checked me in. The person who "helped" us when we picked up the U-Haul truck was not helpful. Never came out from behind the desk, never came out to indicate which truck or inspect the truck before we took it. Told us it had "half a tank of gas" so make sure it had "half a tank" when we brought it back....it had 9/16 when we got it apparently and so when we brought it back with half a tank we were charged for gas. Told us to pick up 2 bags of moving blankets and the 2 dollies on our way out. I had to go back to confirm it was the smaller dollie we needed but did not bother to count the blankets until later...we had paid for 24 but left with 2 bags of 6. Luckily the people at drop off believed us. Then when I asked if the drop off location would show up in my app because it was showing only the pick up point, he told me no, it would be in the email I would be sent. I was sent 2 emailed contracts that I searched through first, at length, and then disgusted I went back to the app and found the drop off location listed after pick up done. Apparently the 3rd email was the one that had the more concise info on gas and location. Which gets me to the fact that the drop off location DOESN'T EVEN EXIST ANYMORE. The new owner of the building at Olde Town Laundromat have a cardboard sign that says, "No U-Haul Drop Offs". I then had to find another U-Haul drop off point. These people at JRz Auto Body in Stevens Point WI were awesome. They explained the bill which is higher than what we paid in Oshkosh...which I now understand paid for the underfilled gas, tax, and cleaning fee (however, the truck was not dirty when we returned it). None of this was explained to us in Oshkosh at Koeller St location. There at Oshkosh, he asked for me to check whether I agreed to the amount of $223 that was charged to my credit card there....no mention of fees that would be assessed at the end. All this hassle on top of being told that, even though we were reserving almost 3 weeks in advance, that I would get a call the day before our move to confirm location, hours, and AVAILABILITY of the truck we needed. When I called to confirm that we might be told that the truck was unavailable, I was told we should just trust that it would work out, but technically, yes it was possible that it would not be available. Now, you tell me...is this a story that would inspire me to refer my friends to rent a U-Haul from the Keller Rd Oshkosh WI location??? I'm not sure I'll deal with U-Haul at all in the future. The only bright spot was dealing with JRz Auto Body at the eventual drop off location.Christina S.
My truck after 2nd load would not start up again. The manager said it was not in park all the way. But it was, because we tried everything. Showed an icon of a car and lock. Re did the doors to check, re did it in gear. My brother drives trucks for his job so pretty sure he knew how to start a truck. Manager said he must have bumped the gear when he tried turning the key. I was watching him, he bumped nothing. It just wouldn't turn over. After a half hour he tried it again and so we were able to finish. But I was not going to take any chances, so we kept it running while unloading and when we got it back to the store kept it running. I was given a whole $20.00 off supposedly, which of course the manager still has not sent me the new contract showing even that off. I will NOT use Uhaul service ever again. I initially thought that I would make 2 trips to my new location. I only made one trip. Based on this, I paid for the mileage for 2 trips. I wasn't credited for less mileage and they charged me an additional amount with no explanation. I was told it came with a chain and lock but it had neither. The truck had over 162,000 miles on it. I got in and started it....fuel gauge showed 1/8 less than records said to return it with as well as the odometer having one more mile on it.....I went in, got kid working to come out and look....after he argued with me, rolled his eyes and said "really? It's only a dollar" Yeah really! It's my fucking dollar you're screwing me out of, before the truck even left! After all that we were finally able to leave, 40 minutes into our 24 hr rental. Absolutely horrible customer service, we reserved rented one of their utility 6x12 trailers with ramp to haul our UTV, got it to our place to load our UTV and it DIDN'T FIT! So, my husband took the trailer back immediately as I called to let them know that the trailer didn't work because the ramp opening was not big enough for us to drive our UTV onto, and that my husband was on his way back to return it for a refund, they told me "left our lot, nonrefundable" remind you I asked the night before and got confirmation that it would indeed be big enough to haul an utv! Customer Service Representative was Super Rude, I will never go back to this location again, so disrespectful towards me on the phone, and they also need to know the correct information on their products, before giving out the wrong information!!! The worst experience with UHaul! Started with trying to get a hitch put on. The soonest date online I could get it in for was July 11th. I wanted to use the trailer starting July 8th, so I called and talked to the GM- Doc. He told me, that as soon as they get the parts he would get them put on, and for me to call back in the 5th. He said here is my personal phone number, I will take care of you. That was a bold faced lie!! First of all he would not answer the phone, I started calling at 10am and tried to 5:30. I called both his number and the store number. The store never answered, it always went to the company voicemail after ringing and ringing. When Doc finally did answer his phone, he said I am not at work after 4:30, and assured me the parts had not come in. I called back the next day, same run around. So now it's the 7th- I still haven't heard if the parts have come in, and we want to leave the 8th. So I drive over about 1:30 and walk into an empty store, wait 15-20 minutes before someone that works there comes to the front. They check in the computer, and tell me the parts have been in a while! He calls Doc (the GM who was off?? ) after chatting with him awhile, he asked me what time tomorrow I want the hitch put on. He says they will put it in first thing in the morning, 9am. On Friday I try calling at 10:30 and of course no answer. I go over about 1:45 or so, the place is empty of customers, one worker and Doc are sitting behind the counter. I ask why no one bothered to call me, and was told they were busy. Next ordeal is getting a trailer. The week prior when I talked to Doc, I asked for a 4x8 trailer gong one way to Indiana, was told sure they won't be a problem. Surprise, Surprise, it turned out to be a problem. The only trailer available is a local trailer that I will have to bring back empty. I'm frustrated and just want to start this move. I tell them I need the trailer till Sunday. I ask if they are open Sunday's for return and how late- Doc says yep, open till 5pm. We get it hooked up and off I go. Fast forward to Sunday, my travel back is going slower because of construction delays. So now the next problem, about 2:30 I get a call from the UHaul store (I guess the phone does work!) and they ask me if I am on the way. I say yep, I'm about 20 min out. I am kind of confused why they are calling me, I have plenty of time before they close. So I get there at 3 and wait a bit for someone to come out, when they do they unhook the trailer and I head on home, thinking I'm done with this ordeal. Nope. I get a message that I am being charged an additional $28.29!!! I try callingâ€¦with no better luck then I had last week. So I go online and look up my account. I picked up the trailer at 2:10 on Friday, and the contract said to have it back by 1:30 Sunday! That's on me, I missed that part on the contract. So for the extra hour I got charged an additional full day rental!! I can honestly say this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I can remember.Richard R.

The guy that checked us out was a smart Alec and didn't answer my question destructive shoulders and laughed at me in my face there was another guy that was there that explain things but it was cause I was a woman and he didn't wanna have to deal with me and he wouldn't even talk to me. need to talk to manager on monday. I was sent out with a missing side marker light that completes the circuit to have running lights. When i brought it back the tech that checked me in said he even knew it was missing. I had to drive 50 miles with my flashers on so i would have lights on the back of the trailer. I have used many car transport trailers over the years and neve had a problem. I could have gotten a ticket for no lights after dark. I really should get a discount for the trouble i had. This was the destination after moving from Florida. When I originally called to set up delivery to my house, they completely messed up my order and had me set up to receive an empty container instead of the one with my stuff in it. I had to call Uhaul's main number to get everything straightened out. The delivery driver that brought my container was on time and did a great job!Mark V.

I had two problems when I moved in. When I arrived at the location, the unit I was assigned was already rented out. I spoke with the employee ( very kind and helpful) she did help me out by assigning me a different one. However, when I went back for a second trip, my code didn't work and couldn't get into the building. I live on the other side of the city and it was a wasted trip for me. I went back the next day and couldn't get into the building at all. I went to speak with the employee (very kind and professional) and she ended up giving me a access card and explained how it works and how to get in. Everything is great except for the fact that I was only issued one key card. This is a major inconvenience as I have multiple people that need to access the unit. This is such a major drawback I almost canceled the whole thing. The person I initially talked to led me to believe I would be able to get multiple cards. I cannot understate how irritating this is. I am an elderly lady who got covid and almost died, uhaul was called several times about my storage unit. So I wouldn't lose my stuff, well I did, and supposedly it was auctioned off for $5.00?,?? Are you serious? I have no winter clothes, no winter coat, boots, furniture, nothing!!! All because your employees do not do their jobs. They were contacted numerous times for a payment plan, and they still stoled 6 decades of belongings for supposedly $5.00. I have put this publicly all over as well as newspapers and TV news. What they did was so wrong, especially to a old disabled woman who had covid 2 months and almost died. Everyone will hear my story, and what oshkosh uhaul did to me!! Manager Doc is a joke, as I know he received my families messages that I was in ICU!!! Very poor business and I will be obtaining an attorney and suing for not being able to retrieve my stuff as I was promised.Angela E. | Overall Experience

Finding the unit on the map and in person was a challenge. More signage in the building would be helpful. I was not happy to see a giant rat trap in the unit when I opened it. Storage inside is already limited without having to save space for that thing. I removed it.Andrea B. | Online Move In

This location and all others I interacted with over the last month was excellent. All the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. However, your reservation system is the number 1 WORST I have ever used. Tell me, what does RESERVE mean in your world. Your company is totally lying when they say they have a reservation for you. I know you know I'm right because I asked 3 different stores about the truthfulness of your company fulfilling the word 'RESERVATION 'as most everyone understands it. I've paid my storage online, yes the first payment was late only because I thought I'd already set up auto-pay. However, I have payment shown on my bank statement. The next month I paid it and set up auto pay however, for some reason it doesn't appear to have gone through. Then my storage is locked even though I paid it and the late fee. It started out really great but the last couple times I was there the overhead doors wouldn't open.
