The personnel were fine - friendly and responsive. The truck was not road safe. The transmission was shot - struggled to get into next gear and would randomly downshift even at low speeds. The suspension and alignment were terrible. It was extremely difficult to stay in lane. We had to cut trip short and bring everything back home and unload. It was a nightmare of a trip - and we lost several hours in what should have been an easy drop off and pick up trip.Eric P.

I was able to book the 20 foot truck however it ended up not being available except for an hour away from me. This made a an extremely complicated and time consuming pick up involving me driving 2.5hrs to get the truck. When i asked why this happened the staff was extremely rude and snippy to me, telling me they have me the last one in state and weren't willing to have someone bring it to the location nearby my house. I was very dissatisfied with this service as it's not my fault it let me book the truck (staff told me it shouldn't have let me book that far in advance and made it seem like it was my fault that i couldn't get a truck nearby because i was proactive in planning)Nicholas P.

I was seeking information about insurance beyond the Safe-Move insurance. I was using one of the moving company's that I found on your website. I am 67 years old and I was also using one of their drivers to drive the UHAUL truck for the move. I asked if there was an accident where the truck hit another car/people, who was responsible. Me or the Moving company driver? Several of your staff told me different things. Some didn't know. One told me that the driver of the moving would be asked submit his license to UHAUL before the move and would be responsible. But when the time came, and I asked them to take the driver's license, they said they would not and that they had my license. I am not disputing your regulations, but only that I wish I had received a knowledgeable accurate answer that was consistent among your staff. It would have helped me make a better decision for myself. Otherwise, it is an exceptional service, and it is a terrific solution to moving.Lynn L.

I liked the truck I rented. Slight issue I wasn't aware of until I drove away and found out that was the last pickup truck in the lot. The vomit smell I really had a problem with. The customer before me I believe tried to hide it. I called 3 times to rectify the problem. I was told there would be either a professional courtesy or credit due to the problem. I'm renting another truck at your Woodbury, CT location today. I was told I would get a call or an email rectifying the issue. Have not heard back on how this is going to work today. The facility itself was very clean. The problem lies with the staff. There have been times when I have stood there while the employees argued about who was going to wait on me. One occasion I went in and the back door was open and there was a stench of marijuana. The final day my Son used his debit card to secure the truck but was assured that when the truck was returned I could pay cash for the truck and they would release the hold on my Son's card. It did not happen, then charged my Son's card and mumbled something about not being able to fix it. I'm glad I'm done with my storage units. I had four total at one time. When I checked in, the manager who was at the desk was too busy handling a personal matter with another employee (boyfriend possibly) to provide me with accurate information. I had to walk back in to get more details on where to enter and on the size of my storage unit. Then later that night I arrived 3 minutes after access hours, but thought I could still enter where she indicated on the map "AFTER HOURS" entrance. That was NOT the case at all, so I had to call and be on hold for 30 minutes until I was finally helped by Wanda_fauber@uhaul.com. She was wonderful; however, if I knew the management was so aloof and unconcerned, I never would have stored my belongings at that facility on New Haven Rd. The storage unit that I rented was great and very convenient. The experience I had renting and using that unit would be 5 stars. However, I had a huge problem with getting my UBox from this facility. It was stored there while I was moving and when I needed to get it, I called and reserved a trailer hitch to move it. It was confirmed to be reserved for me at 5pm a few days later. When I got there right before 5pm, they told me they had run out of trailers and that they'd have to go get some from the Waterbury facility, and that it would be only half an hour at most. I went back and checked at 6pm, an hour later, and they still hadn't even left to get them yet. My trailer didn't even arrive until 7:38pm, then they didn't have the tools to hook it up to the UHaul trailer hitch that I have on my car, so they told me I had to rent one of their trucks to tow it. So all in all, $80 to rent a truck and 3 hours later than my reservation, I could finally tow my UBox to my new home. The staff seemed completely apathetic to my situation and dragged their feet the whole time. I honestly think they were waiting until 7, when they closed, to go get the trailer, hoping I'd be gone by then. But I really needed to move that day and unfortunately had to work into the night because of the delay. That is what makes my experience below average. This particular storage unit in Naugatuck is EXTREMELY unprofessional, STAFF (the manager JESSICA and Stephanie) are rude, lazy, and the way they interact with their customers is unacceptable. I have called the Corporate office and upon speaking to them, they agreed about my recent experience as well; telling me that each store is ran different and they are sorry; and that I am not the only one who has been having a horrible experience. Every time I called to speak to them, they lied and gave me the run around, not to mention when we first got the units, they gave us the WRONG one causing the alarm to go off EVERY TIME we went to the units. They stopped responding to my emails, lied, and told me I was NEVER in touch in touch with them. I had to start documenting my conversations with times, dates, and what conversations went on. I will NEVER recommend the Naugatuck unit to ANYONE! On the RARE chance I spoke to a NICE human being over there, it was a man named Anthony. He actually helped and showed some type of human reactions other than clipped tones, huffing, and he NEVER hung up on me. He also LOOKED out together and not sloppy and unkempt like the women who are in charge. If you use this PARTICULAR STORE in Naugatuck, God speed. Document EVERYTHING and I hope you never have to interact with that horrible human being, Jessica. It's all false impressions at the first interaction. No loading dock! No easy access to get in. Rat traps in the units! A giant pole in my unit taking up space. No carts available. They don't have the big size units, like the one I reserved, they give you 2 units to make the size, which means you have to buy more locks . I attempted to use after-hours access to my unit for the first time this evening. My name was acknowledged correctly when I swiped my card, but then the access code which had been provided to me by U-Haul (AND IS ON MY E-MAIL FROM U-HAUL) was denied.
