When you get a uhaul with a 1/2 tank of gas and return it with the same don't charge an additional $20, to the person. There is a reason why you ask what the gas gauge is on when it is picked up and returned. GraciasDavid H.

The people here were a lot more helpful and friendly. Still, they could not help up with the CAF report or give us extra mileage, so we still got charged. But the woman said that was ridiculous and when she's had to change someone's reservation to a further location she would give them 2x as much as the distance from their home. We also used a lock that was in our truck, but had no key, so the woman there was very nice and let us use the bolt cutters to get it off. I appreciated the people at this location; however, I think it is absolutely ridiculous that I have to go through hours of automated customer service calls, emails, and get hung up on when I finally reach someone, in order to try and get any of my issues resolved. This is the location I was supposed to pick up my truck but was sent to S meadows instead. Even though I HAVE NO EMAIL STATING TO PICK UP AT SOUTH MEADOWS. then I was told I would get $50 off and that NEVER happened because it went on the wrong card and no one can help me because wait times are hours long. This is the location where Trevor helped me with the NEW tow dolly. The only positive experience from this entire crap show was Trevor going above and beyond and helping me. My experience consisted of getting referral recommendation to include inaccurate directions. For the next 2 months this caused me an average of 2-3 hours commute time round trip to go to my locker. My comments below are directed at the location at 1790 Silverada, Reno - not 1700 S. Virginia: I will never use U-Haul again. For the 2nd time, my reservation was cancelled by this location for an unacceptable reason. As a result, I was forced to rent a smaller truck, which meant additional trips, additional mileage expense, additional fuel, and double the labor cost. U-haul should have offered me a free rental because they cancelled me, or at the very least, an adjustment. Because this was the 2nd time this has happened, U-Haul is unreliable, and I will not use them again.Scott K.

Not sure if it was a policy change, however I was asked to provide a 2nd number for contact. I notified the associate that my wife was at work and could not answer. She called anyway even after I said her phone voicemail wasn't set up. I didn't hear the customer, in line before me have to provide this info.. typically I have had the rental pulled to the front for me. This time, I was given the keys and told to note an damage myself and retrieve the van from spot â€œPâ€. The van was parked so tight between rental trucks I had to move the other truck mirrors in to enter the van. Please pull the vehicle out for the next customer, not fair to have to move the vehicle and risk damage in the Uhaul parking lotâ€¦Owen H.

Was made to wait 45 min in line at oddie the guy side the computers were down so the only way he could charge me was to give my card info over the phone out loud in front of a room full of people. I asked him if I could ask for the people to step outside he said no . So he then refused to rent me the uhaul . Then I had to drive across town 25 minutes away from where I need to be to rent a different truck and they charged me 30 for millage . The worst customer service ever !Pirma M.

I needed a vehicle transport trailer, which the location had one available. Roughly 55 dollars I believe was the rental rate. But for reasons not given, the trailer HAD to be a one way rental which raised the price to over 130 dollars, and the drop off location had to be the location 2 miles away. So I was charged almost triple the rental amount to be forced to drop it off 2 miles away. Absolutely insane and if my jeep wasn't stranded in the desert at risk of being destroyed by hooligans I absolutely would have told the representative to shove the trailer somewhere inappropriate. I will honestly be looking at other places to rent when I need to rent a moving truck in the future. However the young lady at the register was very polite and it wasn't her fault I believe, well I sure hope not anyways. Btw your survey asks the same question twice about recommending to a friend, which currently is a hard no. And the comment section is also on here twice.Mason H.

The windshield was filthy. Smeared with bugs and dirt, the inside of the window was so bad that when the Sun shined directly on it I was totally blinded; there was only 1/2 tank of gas; there was only 1 dozen blankets, I ordered 3 dozen blankets. I had to drive the rental truck to another location to pick up the other 2 dozen blankets. Not sure whether I'd recommend this facility to a friend.James M.

When I saw the bill, I called Uhaul and they agreed to back out the extra day's charge. They â€œforgotâ€ to leave the keys to the truck in the lockbox. I was supposed to get my truck at 7 pm thru the mobile check in. When I clicked â€œpick up my truck,â€ it said â€œplease come back tomorrow at 7 AMâ€. I was on hold with Uhaul customer service for OVER TWO HOURS and no one ever came on the line to help. I finally just hung up. HORRIBLE customer service. No help whatsoever. So I got screwed by not being able to get the truck when it said I could. I had to wait 12 HOURS before I could get it. Everything was good until I was moving my stuff out. I had just paid for the whole month of August and the cleaner saw me clearing out my unit. He asked if I was checking out and I told him I didn't know yet. The next day I attempted to use the web site to determine if I was going to check out and whether I would get some kind of rebate. That didn't work and after 40 minutes on hold I was told I could only talk to the office on sight. When I called he told me I was already checked out and he had rented the unit out already. I asked about a pro rated return of rent and he said no. I then asked to have my space back until the end of the contract and he said I already checked out. I didn't check out and I believe the cleaner reported me as checked out without my concurrence. He said if the lock is removed I am checked out but I couldn't see that anywhere in the contract. After some back and forth he agreed to give me back my unit that I paid for until September. All was good until this point. After renting a storage unit, receiving unit number, I was delayed for several days and ultimately assigned a different storage unit all because the lack of communication from uhaul staff. Apparently after all that, the customer 'must' enter the unit and put a padlock on unit the same day the unit is rented. Otherwise uhaul assumes the unit is 'not' rented and will rent it out. Thus leaving the 'tenant' who already paid, without a unit. If I rent the unit, paid for it in advance, who cares what day I physically move in? I actually had a family emergency that delayed my moving into the unit for 3 days after renting it. Though on that day, I couldn't move in because it was rented to someone else. Double renting the same unit? There is laws against such actions. To avoid that, uhaul moved me out. And when I confronted uhaul they scrambled and assigned me a unit they had just luckily had a customer move out. I had to wait for the unit to be cleaned out and prepped for my moving in. Again, it should not matter what the actual day and time I move in for any reason. I paid for the unit and secured it by paying the rent. This type of action by uhaul is illegal in any other tenant/landlord contracts across the nation. This policy should reviewed by uhauls legal department before they get sued. This dispute was "resolved" by the luck that a former tenant had moved out, otherwise there were no other units available to offer me at the time I attempted to move into my original rented unit.Dean S. | Online Move In

The cost of renting a unit is a bit expensive and the hours of operation for access to my unit are not very convenient. I rented a unit from your company because it is close to my house and I will only need it for a short time. If I needed the storage longer, I would have taken more time to find a facility that would be more convenient and less expensive. Your staff was wonderful! We stopped by earlier in the day to see what the rates were and view the product. We wanted to rent closer to our home than this location. We ended up renting here because your staff was so helpful and the other storage facilities would not open due to COVID. In my (just about) three years storage contract there was one major billing / payment correction problem which I was unable to get resolved. I rented two units for storage use. Within the last twelve months I paid for both units with my Debit Card. POSSIBLY DUE TO MY ERROR? one large, incorrect amount error was charged to my Debit account. At this moment, I do not have exact amounts - so I will therefore give you approximate dollar amounts. The actual amounts will be most obvious to one of your associates when they look at my account. I initiated a lump-sum payment for both units, which was to have been AROUND $320.00. The amount charged to my account was in excess of $1,000.00. I discovered this error few days after the transaction cleared by bank account. I repeatedly called the storage location and was immediately transferred to a recording which lamented how they were receiving vastly excessive numbers of phone calls, and that I should give an explanation, by recording, when I was FINALLY CONNECTED TO THE "RESPONSE SEGMENT" of the same recording. I did as requested a few times (3 or 4 times), and was told, by a recording, that I would be called back in (an unacceptable time frame) - again, I was put on hold. After a reasonable length of (my judgement call) waiting to be finally connected to an alive person - I chose to hang up --- and try again. A few days later I called a published phone number for some sort of customer service assistance. The woman with whom I spoke was exceptionally proper, pleasant,and accommodating. She said she would give this situation to someone above her, and that someone would CALL Me BACK. This never happened! After a week or so, I tried again to make local contact and received the same, ,outrageous wait time for a response. AGAIN, I was told by recording that they were horribly overloaded (due to the Carona Virus), and that I should wait--------! I waited, and waited, and again hung up in frustration, I am a retired business owner, and I live approx. 44 miles from the storage unit location. I was not going to personally drive there, as I had a very large overpaid account. Later on, I was able to speak with someone locally, and I told him to take the next monthly payment for my surplus. He had looked into my account and acknowledged the large, excessive payment. A few months later I was able to speak with a corporate person, and things worked out - at the end of that unacceptable process. Yesterday, after a three year contract, all belongings were removed, and I terminated the storage. The local gentleman was also very polie and thanked me for my business. That same date I rented a 26 foot truck, and the property, which was in fine condition, was delivered to it's destination. That all ended well. I have use Uhaul exclusively for over 25 years, and have always had excellent truck rental experiences, This storage billing experience was exceptionally frustrating, and I felt compelled to let corporate know what transpired. My total storage expenses for 36 moths was in excess of (approx) $9,700..and I am left with an unpleasant memory. I wish to be acknowledged in some regard -- and not by a recorded, generic message. Having to swipe your card every time you go inside the facility during business hours when there are cameras and staff available is excessive. If I was just visiting my stuff, that would be okay - but my hands are full and I'm pushing carts and moving things. It wasn't like this when I moved my things in; just when I moved out. I set the alarms off for being in the doorway too long. Otherwise, great facility just very expensive.Jennifer O. | Overall Experience
