You need to have a better supply of furniture blankets. Several nearby U-Haul locations were out of them as well, including one they sent me to that showed some in inventory but had none when I got there 15 minutes later. The brakes on our truck were not catching properly. The passenger side windshield wiper flipped off, which we could tell had happened in the past because the windshield was scraped on the same side. Sadly, we needed that wiper due to rainy weather, but were unable to use it because it was broken prior to us picking up the truck. Additionally, the cover over the passenger side headlight was literally taped on when we picked up the truck. It blew off in the wind at some point. This truck should have been checked out prior to us picking it up and should not have gone out in the condition in which we received it.Elizabeth K.

First truck had four bald tires in back. Equipment DC 1693K. Did not feel safe driving truck. Brought back next morning for a swap. Replacement truck was better, but they charged me mileage for the 6-mile round trip from the rental location to my home. Not my fault the truck had four bald tires and I needed to bring it back. Just remember to check tires before you leave so you are not driving an unsafe vehicle.Glenn F.

Inside cab had litter and dried beverage spillage in cup holder area. I avoided contact. This should have been cleaned when truck was returned by previous customer. My scheduled pickup day and time had to be changed to the following day because the U-Haul computer system would not permit release of my truck. Nationwide system problem. Long wait for my location to try to contact IT help, over 1-1/2 hours. My location personnel were diligently trying to get through to them, when they finally did the issue could not be resolved. There was no backup plan in place to override the system to provide the customer with truck immediately & update system when computers were back in service. The people at Lisle location were not at fault for this situation and tried to help me but couldn't.Bettye G.

I dropped this truck off in the evening and attempted to put the keys in the drop off box and when I tried to open the door there was no lock locked! The door was open with three other sets of keys laying inside. The next morning I checked my credit card that was used for payment, There was an additional charge of $54.32 from this store. I then called and the young lady I spoke with could only tell that was the charge for the truck rental. She then stated I would have to call U-Haul's 800 number to get clarification. Then after waiting on hold for ten minutes I finally talked with a gentleman who then put me on hold again and after waiting for another five minutes he got back on and said I will receive a refund within 3-5 business days for the 54.00 with no explanation as to why I was charged this extra money. I am saddened to learn about the process where I drove the truck for just a mere 9 miles and was asked to pay an EZ fuel charge of 9 dollars when I put 5 dollars worth of gas in it. The truck was extremely unclean and the attendant acted as a complete robot while I asked him genuine questions.aseem G.

The service person I worked with did not know anything about the optional insurance. She knew nothing and could not answer any questions about collision and liability coverage. I ended up buying insurance that I later found out I did not need.Jeff D.

The manager was the rudest person I've ever dealt with. My entire experience with uhaul was horrible. I dealt with three different locations..Plainfield , Aurora and Lisle and they were all rude. I had to call corporate. She was the only nice person. I will NEVER rent from uhaul again and I will tell everyone I know not to as well!Lucy K.

The U-Haul was covered in dirt and mud, which is terrible for moving because I spent the next 2 days clearing mud of my new floors, carpet, and furniture. I was charged a cleaning fee when I didn't even receive a clean truck. What a joke. Not to mention I received the truck with 1/4 tank, filled it, left it with MORE gas, and was still charged a fuel fee. This was even after I submitted my dispute. Terrible experience.Aaron M.

The first truck we rented lacked a gas cap, my husband felt that it was not a good idea to drive that truck. We returned it and were charged $30.00 because we had driven it 2miles before we discovered the missing gas cap and drove 2miles back. The woman behind the counter had to call her manager to find a replacement cap. It didn't fit so we had to rent another truck. That one was fine and we were able to move what needed to be moved. When we returned the second truck and got the final statement of the cost it did not match any of the quoted costs. UNHAPPY!!!!!Pamela M.

I called the number listed on my reservation to get the open time for the Gurnee u-haul. U Haul had the wrong number listed for the Gurnee location. The lady who answered the phone was rude and not helpful, saying she works at the Lisle Uhaul and couldn't help me, not even with getting the right number to the Gurnee U haul. When we arrived to pick up the truck, we were told the Lisle location did not have the moving pads we ordered, so we had to go to yet another location to pick those up, which made us late. It would have been nice to know that we would have to go to yet another location and planned accordingly. The staff at this location did not wear masks, even though it is a state mandate. Staff were very unhelpful and unapologetic for not being stocked.Daniel B.
I was charged $68 extra because of the worker's poor attention to fuel level upon the return of the vehicle. I was given the vehicle at 1/4 of a tank and return it with slightly more than 1/4 full. My dad returned the vehicle for me, they said they would check the truck themselves and would email myself a copy of the receipt. Upon receiving the receipt, the fuel was marked that I returned it around-below 1/8 full, which was under what I was supposed to. They charged me $30 for the tank being under 1/4 and an additional $38 for not filling it back to 1/4. I went back to the location and asked that they look at the fuel level again. They checked and said that must not have looked close enough the first time and did refund me. I question if this was an honest mistake or done intentionally, especially considering there was little to no apology on the error.Rebecca C.
