Have yet to use for a trip to Montana. Sets up great. Only issue, not with carrier, is adapting to a Class I hitch.

Heidi B.
Rating:

It looks of good quality. It is very sturdy and spacious. The only thing I did not like so much were the securing pins on each corner. They look a little flimsy.

Purchased a class 3 hitch from u-haul and ordered the basket at the same time. Basket arm would not go into receiver until I ground the receiver down. Spent about 1/2 hour on this.

Will this work with a Tesla Model Y?

–mary 5/3/2023 6:32:25 PM

Hi Mary! Any cargo carrier you select is going to be limited due to the carrying capacity of your vehicle. You will also want to make sure you have the clearance at the back of your Model Y when you want to attach any accessories like a cargo carrier or bike rack. From the hitches we offer for your Model Y the clearance distance is about 6-1/2 inches so as long as you choose a hitch mounted accessory with more than 6-1/2 inches clearance you should be good to go.

Hello, what is the difference between this unit and the Carpod Fold up Hitch Cargo Carrier With 4” Rise? Thanks!

–Mike 9/8/2019 3:48:14 AM

Hello, Mike! The main difference between the two carriers is the rise, which provides ground clearance if your vehicle sits closer to the ground. Other than that, the products are essentially identical. I hope that is helpful!

I have a 2013 Honda Crosstour (V6), thinking to have Uhaul to install a hitch (Uhaul.com recommended a Class I hitch of 1.25"), can I have my car installed with this Carpod Carrier with a 1.25" to 2" hitch adapter? My concern is when installed with this cargo carrier (including the weights of the hitch and the carrier) whether the Tongue Weight is bearable with my car?

–AW 11/3/2017 10:22:58 PM

Hello! This Carpod Carrier is not recommended for your application. We recommend viewing cargo carriers designed for 1-1/4 inch receivers. The Curt Angled Shank Cargo Carrier is an option fit for a 1-1/4 inch receiver.
